Lighthouse Darßer Ort with Natureum Darßer Ort

Here is some progress so far on the S-B model of the Lighthouse Darßer Ort with Natureum Darßer Ort.
Some information about the site can be found here:
Lighthouse Darßer Ort with Natureum Darßer Ort

Here is a street level view on the grounds:
Lighthouse Darßer Ort with Natureum Darßer Ort view
It is a 360° view so you can spin around and check the area out. You can close that view by clicking on the X at the upper right and get a map of the area.
I have been working on this thing off and on for about a year now.
Maybe it will be completed this year.

Here is the book of the model and instructions:

Here is the ground piece:

On the right you can see an extension and how it is attached.

The windows can be displayed as the 2D prints on the tower or you can make them 3D with the included extra parts. I chose to make them 3D.
My apologies for the bad photography.
Here are the two components of the 3D windows:

Beginning of the construction:

A completed window:

Windows attached to the tower part:

Tower closed with windows inserted:

To me it looks much better with the recessed windows.

Looking good! The recessed windows do look better, but my fingers ache just looking at the small size

Thanks for stopping by. Yep, small parts. There are 19 corbels that go under the platform at the top of the tower that are even smaller. You can either use the printed 2D ones or make the 3D ones. I am going to make the 3D ones.

Here is another view of the tower with some windows:
-darsser-ort-lighthouse5c.jpg
The tower is 7-5/8 inches or 194 mm tall(or long if it is laying down )
You can see the 2D printed corbels at the top of the tower.

A way that I use to help keep a long tube more round is to put some disks at either end.
One has a hole cut out of the middle and is inserted and glued first:
-darsser-ort-lighthouse5d.jpg
The hole is so I can reach through with a dowel and position the second disk.
You can see the back of one of the window installations in that picture.

The second disk is solid:
-darsser-ort-lighthouse5e.jpg
It is positioned and held in place while the glue dries using the dowel.

This is great work!

Darßer Ort is a really nice place. I have been there in december making a long walk through the nature reserve around. There is a simulation which shows the withdrawl of the coast at this place so maybe in about 80 years or so the lighthouse will have vanished.

Here is the tower placed on the ground piece:
-darsser-ort-lighthouse6a.jpg

A close up of an alignment check:
-darsser-ort-lighthouse6b.jpg

I am starting to work on those corbels mentioned earlier. Not making sprint of it, more like a marathon so it might be a while before anymore updates. Those things are small.

(remind myself: it helps if you mash the upload buton when attaching pictures to a post )

Very slowly but surely still working on the Darßer Ort model. Here is some progress on the corbels

Size of part:

After folding:

This shows the 2D area:

And after the part is placed:

There are 20 of them to fold and place.

I take my time with parts like this because it can become frustrating to me when trying to place small parts and get them the way I want them to be. So instead of getting PO'd I place some and take some time off. It is supposed to be fun, no?
