Limburg farm - Leon Schuijt - 1: 150

Hi there ,

this time we're going to Holland

As a small parallel building to Tyrof Castle, I start with a Dutch farm.

The hand-drawn sheet is very colorful, there are 51 pieces on two A3 sheets that need to be installed.

At the beginning, the base plate is glued to the 2 mm cardboard in the sheet.

Sincerely yours

Kurt

Kurt, how nice! This is pure youth sentiment. I built this model when I was 12 or something, and it’s long gone of course. Great that you build your own version. I’ll be following.

Cheers,
Erik

A friendly hello
after a short break the farm continues ...

Prepare part 4 ... and install

For the manure heap in the yard, a brewed tea bag is cut in half ... and glued ...

... then the dried herbs from the tea bag on top ... and finally
still prepare the surface. That was my little contribution to sustainable model building

Sincerely yours
Kurt

That’s very inventive Kurt to use tea leaves for creating nature in the court yard. Perhaps you can think of something to put realism in the trees along the walls?

These kind of farm houses are very uncommon in The Netherlands, in fact they were only built in the very southern tip of the province of Limburg and they look like small fortresses. Some of them have been turned into holiday apartments and for several years my family and I spend wonderful springtime getaways there. For us that region forms the "Dutch Alps”, with mountains rising up to a staggering 321m (some argue it’s 322 or even 323m) above sea level. Ha, ha. In any case it’s a lovely hilly area.

Keep on building !

Erik

Nice model and poop pile.
I like looking at those fortified farmhouses. Something about the layout appeals to me.
