Chateau de Chenonceau
The next and last section of the Chateau is the bridge/gallery. Both sides were one piece each. The most difficult part was gluing the little tops to the arches over the river. The space inside was very small and hard to glue in place.
The roof was also one piece. The most time-consuming part was gluing the 19 tiny dormer roof to the roof. I figured it might be easier to glue the roof on the bridge if it were glued to the base, which I have done. Attaching the roof will be next Following that there are three small sections to glue between each arch. It shouldn’t take too long to finish it…..maybe tomorrow. |

I finished this model several days ago. I am very pleased with it, but it did have several difficult parts and, as I reported when I began, the directions were very brief and few photos. It is a Le Instant Durable model first published in 1983.
We were going to see it in May on our Viking River Cruise in France, which we now have rescheduled for October. We hope the Coronavirus will be all over by then. In the mean time, I hope all of you remain safe and spend your time building lots of models. We have been self quarantined, except for three curbside pick ups, for three weeks. I have about 112 more model kits yet to cut out and assemble so if I make one a month for the next 10 years, I will have to live to be 92 years old. Since most models take more than a month to make, and I am sure that I will purchase a few more, so maybe I had better to increase my longevity to 96 years. I decided I wouldn't make more models until I cleaned off my desk and finished my income tax during this time of isolation. Neither are much fun, but I am making some progress so i hope to start a new model soon. It will be a surprise. |

Beautiful job on my favorite chateau. Any more Loire chateaux among all your additional kits?

Thank you Mike and Yale for your comments.
Yale, I made Chambord and I posted it several months ago. I also have Azay-Le- Rideau and Chateau De Chaumont. Neither is listed as stops on the tour, but Chaumont is located between Chaumont and Chambord. Maybe we can make a quick stop. I intend to make both of them before the cruise and excursion. All four models are Le Instant Durable models. |
