Chapelle Notre-Dame de Tréminou - Secanda

From Wikipedia:

The Notre-Dame de Tréminou chapel is located in the town of Plomeur , in Bigouden country , at the southwestern tip of Brittany.

The construction of the chapel dates from the 13th century. There were restorations in the 14th and 16th centuries. The central window is from the 16th century. Inside, there are some polychrome wooden statues from the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as remarkable carved sandpits.

The Tréminou fountain is a short distance away, about 500 meters south of the hamlet of Lestréminou.

This chapel, 2 km from the center of Pont-l'Abbé, was one of the highlights of the revolt of the Bonnets Rouges. On July 2, 1675, it is from the top of its calvary-pulpit outside that the Peasant Code was proclaimed and that the demands were set out by the representatives of 14 parishes of Cap Caval.

His forgiveness is celebrated on the 4th Sunday of September 2.

The chapel and the Calvary have been listed as historical monuments since December 2, 19263.

The kit is 9 pages long and 104 parts.

The kit starts on the central tower and this time, the instructions have images,so it will be way easier to follow.

Cheers,

Gregory.

The building of this tower was surprisingly straight-foward; I was thinking that it would be more difficult than it was, but the process went very smoothly, but before explaining the process, I'd like to warn the folks who may want to build this model about a particular feature of part 2p: On photo 3, see those folded flaps on the holes and on the bottom? These are meant to be cut on the vertical lines, as they will be attched to some parts later... and it took a while for me to realize how the part supposed to be handled... So when trying to building the piece accordingly to the photo on the instructions for the first time, I ended cutting those areas away completely, and unfortunately the parts that would go on those areas didn't had support to be glued properly.

But thankfully I was able to print a new part 2p and this time I proceeded in the correctly way and everything worked fine.

Now here's how the building of the tower went:
  1. Part 2c makes the base of the tower(photo1);
  2. Parts 2q and 2m makes the pillar base and goes on 2c(photo 2);
  3. On the inside of part 2p, it goes 2h(2x), 2r(2x) and 2s(2x)(photo 4);
  4. After adding the previous parts, 2p is closed and part 2k(4x) is added on the corners and part 2n goes on the middle between the parts 2h(photo 5);
  5. Next, each of arch parts 2i(6x) gluing tabs goes on each hole produced by parts 2h, 2k and 2p(photo 7);
  6. Then bell parts 2t and 2u are placed between parts 2r and 2n one on each side and the N and S markings on the bells must match the ones on part 2c(photo 8);
  7. Parts 2f(spire) and part 2d(spire base are joined together(photo 9);
  8. The spire within the base goes over the arches, inside 2p, the border of 2d matches the border where the triangle shapes on 2p starts and it's N and S signs must be also matched to the 2c markings(photo 10);
  9. Parts 2e(2x) makes reversed roofs and goes 1 on each side of the spire;
  10. Last photo shows the finished roof;

West outer walls finished. The building went as follows:

  1. Parts 5d and 6d makes the west large portal, photos 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 shows the gluing phases;
  2. This assembly goes over part 5a(photo 7);
  3. Parts 6e, 6n, 6h and 1d makes the left south wall(photo 8);
  4. Photo 10 shows the final look of the previous built wall;
  5. Parts 6f and 1e makes the left north wall(photo 9);
  6. Photo 10 also shows thr final look of the previous built wall;
  7. Photo 11 shows the 3 previous walls properly attached on the base;

Next on the list is to make the gable of each roof and the roofs themselves.

Cheers,

Gregory.

After installing the walls on the west side, I started to work on the gables and then on the roof, wich went as follows:
  1. Parts 5b and 5c makes the gable for the west wall (photo 1);
  2. Parts 6l and 6d makes the south window gable and parts 6k and 6c makes the portal gable (photo 2);
  3. Parts 5f, 6b, 5g, and 6a are for the roof support(photo 3), but be aware that glue shouldn't be used on the top and left tabs of parts 6b and 5g when gluing the roof;
  4. 6g makes the ossuary and goes on the corner, between 5a and 6e;
  5. 8a makes the main roof and 7i and 7j makes the portal/window roof respectively;

Next on the list is the start of the choir followed by the transept, wich goes as follows:
  1. 4a and 4b are used for the choir roof support (photo 1);
  2. Parts 1c, 9e and 4d are windows and they go on the back of 3a (photo 2);
  3. Parts 9d + 7d and parts 9c 6 + 7e are walls/windows (photos 3 and 4);
  4. Photo 5 shows all the finished walls;
  5. Photo 6 shows the previous walls properly placed on the base;
  6. Parts 3f, 3g, 3h, 3c, 3d and 3e makes the gables for the 3a wall (photo 7);
  7. Parts 7c(2x) and 7e(2x) makes the gables for wall 7d and 7f;

I was supposed to take a photo of the last step but I forgot. Fortunately, these gables look much the same as the previous ones so you folks can predict the result.

Now, for the transept roof:
  1. Parts 9a(2x) and 9b(3x) are the support of the roof;
  2. Part 8b is the main roof(photo 1);
  3. Parts 6i and 6j are the window roofs (photo 2);

Again, I forgot to take a photo of the first step, but this one works much like the previous large roof.

Next on the list are the sacristies.

Cheers,

Gregory.

The final sections of the model were the sacristies, some butresses and the final roofs. Here's how it went:
  1. Parts 7j and 7i are the sacristies walls, 7j is closed and 7i doesn't need closing (photo 1);
  2. Parts 1f + 1g + 1h makes the windows for the sacristies (photo 2);
  3. Photos 3 and 4 shows the sacristies walls placed on their proper places;
  4. Parts 3l(2x), 7k(2x), 7g and 7h makes the butresses and they go around the transept walls (photos 5,6 and 7);
  5. Part 4c makes the choir roof and goes between the tower and the transept roof;
  6. And lastly, parts 7a and 7b makes the sacristies roofs, they go each one in their matching coordinate;

Below are the photos of the finished model, while the kit is overall good, there was some gluing spots that were smaller or larger than needed(nothing that gave me problems in the build), but other than that, it's a nice model to build and I recommend it. See you folks on the next build.

Cheers,

Gregory.
