Haunted house
Yesterday (May 8) we celebrated our two month coronavirus self quarantine. It would seem that over that time I would have finished a couple of new models but other things which I have neglected lately took precedence, mainly my desk and couple of workshop projects.
Not long ago I saw the Dover Publication’s model – “Haunted House” on Dover’s webpage. It looked interesting so I purchased it. I thought it would be fun to build now, so I have started it. It offers three options – (1) a simple house (2) a more complex one by finishing a very intriguing interior, and (3) adding all kinds of spooky things. l course I have chosen third option. I have now almost completed the exterior. The upper towers and roof are not added until the interior is finished. |

Quite interesting, I will be following. I see Mr Bergstrom authored this, so I'm sure you are finding this a satisfying build.

Thank you Greg, Vermin, Don, Mike and Philip for your kind remarks. I hope you will keep following the progress of this fascinating model. I appreciate your encouragment.
Vermin - The story of Madam Zara Haunted House is included in the inside model book cover. The extras that you sent a link to are not. Thank you for sending the link. I downloaded and printed both documents. The extra building will look great with the rest of the house. Below are photo of the beginning of the interior. First was the basement with two rooms, inthe left one are spooky people carving on a body. The second room features a variety of ghostly musicians. There is a coffin on the stairs on the cellar door. It opens and reveals a body inside. I now have added the floor for the first floor. Note the young couple "making out" on the sofa. Behind them is an AX KILLER, who rises up when you pull the tab that sticks out on the front edge of the floor. |

The first floor is now finished. It contains the parlor, dining room and kitchen. In addition to the ax killer that rises up behind the couple on the sofa, the center panel of the book case opens up to reveal the sun room behind it which containis the fortune teller sitting her table gazing at her crystal ball.
On the wall with the fireplace there is a narrow strip of paper that goes through the roof. In the lower position a fire is burning in the fireplace and a man in a military uniform is shown in the picture frame at the top of the stairs wall (I have not finished the stairs yet). When the strip, which has a ghost on the top that is pulled up at the top of the roof, a ghost appears in the fireplace and skeleton is seen in the top picture frame. The dining room contain a table with a large group of people and spooks of various sorts seated around the table. The kitchen has four characters doing strange things painted on two walls. I am now working on the second floor which I will post in several days. It has been a fun model to make during this time of the stay at home quarantine (now in our 9th week). We hope that all our paper modeler friends are staying safe and well and building lots of interesting models to share with your papermodeler friends. |
