Angkor Wat (Canon CREATIVE PARK)
Hi, fellow modelers, this is my first build thread. I was building some other models to pratice until I felt confident to start a build thread. I always felt that this model was too complex to build, but after I carefully inspected the pieces page, I realized that the model isn't too complex as I imagined. The only thing that bothered me in this model is that you have many parts without tabs, so it was needed to 'create tabs' around those pieces before cutting them so I could glue it more propely. So far I've built the mausoleum/third cloister, the beginning of the sedond cloister and now I'm building the 7 pieces that make the base. Will keep updating the thread as I progress.

Excellent.
Nice to see someone else building this. It's a nice model. I started it many years ago - abandoned it when I realized how large it is as it comes together! Didn't have the space for the finished item! One of the first models I started on as well! Will be nice to see it finished!

I've got one of these printed out too. Haven't started it because, as Kevin says, it's somewhat large. But also because it seemed like more hard work than I really wanted to put in. So I'll be interested to see how this one develops.

J made this model some time ago, so I can appreciate how much work is involved - I'm impressed.
I made mine at 70% of the original so I'll be interested to see how a full sized model looks. My pictures are somewhere on the forum..... Cheers Mike |

Angkor Wat (Canon CREATIVE PARK)
Finished building the base, added the foundation rocks, the first cloister, then glued the previously built structures. Tomorrow I will start the front cross cloister then next the cross roofs in the second cloister.
PS: Added a closer view of the mausoleum for those who wanted. Cheers, Gregory |

Angkor Wat (Canon CREATIVE PARK)
Finished building the second cloister cross roofs, cloister roofs, front cross cloister, roofs and the left and right entrances. Next parts to be built will be the stairs in the corners of the second cloister, stairs/entrances around the first cloister. Really enjoying the construction so far, would recommend the building of this model.

Angkor Wat (Canon CREATIVE PARK)
I'm almost finished with this model. Finished placing all stairs, cloister entrances and also, built the scripture houses and placed them on the base. Last parts to be built are the first cloister cross roofs and the 2 level roofs.

Angkor Wat (Canon CREATIVE PARK)
Angkor Wat finished. After buildng it, I can say now that this model is on the intermediate level, but is certainly not a model to be built in a rush, because of the small pieces. I'ts not a 100% perfect, but I'm satisfied with the result I got. One important advice for people who want to build this model that is you will need to imprevise tabs for the pieces that goes around the spirals, the walls of the cross roofs(so you can glue the roofs of these parts easier), and the second level of the double level roofs(Will make the gluing to the first level a piece of cake). Looking foward to share my next build thread.
PS: The finished model size is 360mm x 420mm, being the largest Canon Model I built so far. Cherrs, Gregory Last edited by gregoy; 10-17-2020 at 10:44 PM. |
