Romanesque church Santa Cugat del Raco , Katalonia - 1:70 - Salvatella

Hello friends of sacred architecture

My next project will be a little easier again. With the small Romanesque church of Santa Cugat del Raco from the Salvatella publishing house
there are somewhat larger parts to be installed this time.

On eight A4 pages of fairly thin cardboard, there are thirty parts in a beautiful hand-drawn texture. Of course, this scale (1:70) is a good way to experiment a little with refinements.
There are no building instructions, but it should still work.

To begin with, the base is glued to 2 mm gray cardboard

Sincerely
Kurt

Looks a little less demanding than a huge Czech fortress! Looking forward to seeing any little extras you might decide to add.

Hi Siwi ,
nice to see you

Now let's go ...

The round tower, part 1. You can already see the size of the model, something gross motoric for a change

After reinforcement with gray construction paper, the window openings are cut out

A frame is used at the top and bottom ... and the finished tower is glued to the floor

Sincerely
Kurt

Wall part 2, I put the wall niches at the back, for this I cut them out and glue them to gray cardboard ...

Now glue behind with 0.9 mm Finn cardboard ...
... and after cutting out again, glue the wall part behind ... after adding the wall, there will be small inaccuracies in the floor plan, but should not be a problem

Sincerely
Kurt

Hi FRD , yes it is !

Part 3 reinforced ... and grown on the east side

Wall part north with window opening and three niches ... in contrast to the first niches I now use Finn cardboard
1.5 mm thick ...
... thus the wall niches come into their own better ... Wall glued on the north side

Sincerely
Kurt

Hi Chris ,

thank you , and it is realy easier

now letīs go on ...

Part 4 ... placed

Since there is a 3 mm gap on the round tower, I use a corresponding piece of cardboard ...

... to be able to glue on the doubled roof reasonably well

Sincerely yours
Kurt

Great work, the cutout niches really go a long way to enhance the realism. May I ask, how are you matching the colour and stone detail on the reinforcing card where it is visible on the cut lines? Is it paint or crayons or does the card luckily happen to be the right shade already?

Hi Siwi

it is paint with water colours

Parts 7 ... then of course don't fit either, so I have to "fill in" with thick glue

Part 5, entrance portal, prepared ... and glued on three levels

Sincerely
Kurt
