J. Gaertner Contraption Co. - 1/87 scale

Most of my recent projects have been structures for my model railroad. Gaertner Contraption Co. is my scratchbuilt copy of Fine Scale Miniatures' Fox Run Milling, renamed for a friend who rebuilds and restores old wood-and-canvas airplanes.

The walls, roofs, chimney, and decks are sheets from Clever Models. The windows and doors are from photos or from my "digital parts bin." The base is hardboard overlaid with textures from Textures.com.

Stairs and supports are basswood scale lumber. Details are Fine Scale Miniature castings and bits and bobs from my plastic parts bin. I built my own jigs for the stairs.

The building will sit against the backdrop of my Ceresco & Wolf River HO scale short line.

Outstanding for by the backdrop, sir. I know it is awfully tall, but it deserves a front row seat.

Didn't I see this building off the Katy Rail Line?

A real treat for the eyes. You’ve certainly got my attention. Would love to see some pics of your layout. Thanks for sharing as well as informing us of your sources and methods.

Another gem, David. The sign reminds me of the Superior Detritus Company on John Allen's Gorre & Daphetid.

Wonderful and a fine addition to any model railway.

The layout is only 2 feet deep and this structure will be at the top of a short incline. I certainly won't hide it.
