Smile FG Gas Station

The FG Gas Station (or Service Station, or Filling Station, depending on where a person lives, and in what century a person lives (in reality or in his mind)) is a charming if simple build. It hearkens back to the time when the service station was manned by uniformed attendents who pumped your gas for you, cleaned your windshield, checked your oil. Gasoline cost was around thirty cents a gallon, or less.

Most of these old filling stations have been abandoned, or torn down. A very few have become a small retail shop or cafe.

Nice little build Larry. Reminds me of my 1st job back in the 1970's, and we wore a uniform.

Like that! There were a lot of stations like that were I grew up in Oklahoma in the early 60's. Still a few around if you drive the old US highways or state routes. Never go on an Interstate unless its the only way or I'm really in a hurry.

A very nice model! I think models are ways to make us remember things that stuck in our minds, and gas stations (WVa talk) are some that I remember fondly. Especially as a kid, late at night on a trip with family, waking to see the glass globe being filled by hand pump, and then drained into the car. I never worked at one, but was sent to one when I was about 10 to get a "left handed monkey wrench" so my devious friends could work on my bike. The attendants made the very best of it, sending me to every one there. They were kind enough not to tell me there was no such thing, and said to tell my friends they would have to go to the next town to find one. I have a couple of books old stations which are fun to study.

Ahhhh YES the Gas Station

I remember them well, especially Standard with the crown on the top of the pump. As I recall the cheapest I ever paid for gas was 19.9 at some basic gneric
station. I used to fill up my 1964 1/2 Mustang for around 3.00 to 4.00, about the cost of a gallons worth today

Hello, all...thanks for the kind words. FG put out a nice model. I see Papermau has a couple of old style "filling stations" as well. Very tempting!
