Very nice project, quite large!
Ambitious you idea to give it a 3D look.

I haven’t commented on this thread yet, but I’ve been monitoring it from the beginning. I really like the set and of course your work. The thickness of the balconies is, in my opinion, more realistic than with twice the thickness of the material.
I'd want to build it myself once, so I always keep a close eye on it... Thanks to the Creator and the link sharer too! Regards, Joe

Thanks asettico and Joe. And yes, very fine set and you can do many things with it. Now back to the chimneys and balconies.

It is good to see your Venice take shape, Tappi.

Thanks Don, I'm still sketching the street/canal plan. That's not so much of a problem but filling the unavoidable gaps between buildings when canal or alley takes a slight turn is. Test building with the same models is it possoble. And then there are the yards inside the blocks of buildings. I might have taken a too big of a bite to chew. We'll see.

I have now officially built my first L'Instant Durable postcard model and it is Ponte Rialto in Venice. Philip was kind to send it to me. It builds nicely but I'm not so fond of the glossy surface or thickness of the card but one must try everything once (or almost everything). I did scan the model so I can return to it and build it from my preferred paper.
In my wall hangs a framed print of a painting of a view of Grande Canal by Friedrich Nerly. Popular picture that has ended both in album covers and Ravensburger puzzle pictures. Inspired by it I wanted to test the bridge with few of my venetian houses and maybe I create a small setting around Ponte Rialto. They are about the same scale. What you think, would it work? Tappi |

I think it would work Tappi.
Venice offers diorama builders an endless landscape. Imagine beginning a diorama at this bridge, and expanding outward in every direction, until you run out of room! |

It will definitely work. I would make a copy of the google maps satellite view to give it a better feel. The bridge is actually the stretch of the street where it crosses the Grand Canal. Between the various buildings you have, you could definitely capture the 'feel' of the setting, if not the actual buildings. BTW, the squared off corner is the NW corner of the bridge

Wonderful work on the bridge, Tappi. I think it blends in really well.
