Papermodels In Paris - Help Wanted

I'll be staying in Paris overnight quite soon, and I get to spend the afternoon sightseeing. Hopefully some of our French hobbyists could help me here ...

Does anyone know of any shops that sell papermodels, specifically the Instant Durable range - I'm looking for the Notre Dame model and Chartres if possible. I also fancy some of the 3D postcard models. My wife likes the idea of a hand-made Parisian souvenir !

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

The news isn't good.

A few years ago we were there and only the American Book shop had a few models.

Village Voice Bookshop: An English language bookstore in Paris, France

You could contact L'Instant Durable and ask for some addresses. The owner, Alain de Busack, is a nice guy and speaks good English.

Cheers
Mike

like anywhere in the world that has "hobbies"...there must be "hobby stores"

I think they are referred to as "le hobby store" in Paris.

find out the translations, and hit the phone book (or net) when you get there
and find the local "hobby stores" that might sell paper.

tell them you are looking for "le paper models"

Your request got me to wondering if there was a list of hobby stores in Paris, France. A search came up with this page:
IPMS Stockholm's European Hobby Shop Guide

It says IPMS but maybe one of those stores listed in Paris would carry some paper models or be able to point you to a store with paper models.

Thanks for the replies all.

I already emailed Instant Durable but got no reply, I'll check out the links provided.

I think the french expression is Maquettes en Papier, Tried searching online but couldnt find anything definitely paper-related. Big city, bound to have hobby stores I agree, but I'm hopeless at finding them even here in UK. I'm sure there's a souvenir shop at Notre Dame - that may sell models.

The Arc...

Few years back in the top of the Arc de Triomph there was a shop where a series of ID were sold. Try there, also a nice view over Paris and the Champs d'Elysé!
Next is to hop in in the many tourist shops or bookshops. Some also carry maquettes en papier de Instant d'Urable and Pascaline Editions.

It will be a search, a quest, but hten you might find your holy Grale!

Bon Vacances a Paris!

Greetings from Holland

Buy, beg, borrow, or steal a GPS unit like a Garmin Nuvi then input the addresses of the shops. The one I have takes me right to the front door of businesses that I input. Most if not all have a pedestrian mode, and some even help with public transportation which helps if you are not driving.

@Ponytail - Thanks for that, are the "Pascaline" editions part of the "Pierres de Papier" range ?
@SCEto AUX - good idea on the GPS. I have one for the car which may be good enough to use on foot. Need to install european maps and try it. Now where did I put the manual ... ...

Not helpful I'm afraid but this is a comment from a French paper modelling web site ' Now in France, card models are not largely distributed and it is really difficult to find a card model in french bookshops!' I'm lucky enough to visit Paris quite often and I've yet to find a model shop selling paper models. The postcard models you will find in many decent bookshop; you'll find them in those rotating stands possibly among postcards.
