Hello All,

Well I've been back at the design board of late developing something I've wanted to do for some time but haven't had the proper motivation or time to do.

From the pix let's see who can guess what it is so I won't say it for now :P

So far I've got the arms done and tested up. The body is ready for testing minus one section.

Below are the pix of the arm test unit. There were minor mistakes which have been corrected already but you get the picture.

Aw nuts! :D:p

Looks great so far! I can't believe you're doing this old-school-style without 3D!!

ATAC-01-SCA Spartas. I thought that arm looked familiar. I'll be watching this one with great interest! Multiple modes eventually?

I'll have to concur with Scott. This should be awesome!

"Madness? This is Spartas!"

Hover tank from the Robotech series. I'm officially jealous.

Ah, from the third (and worst) origin series of Robotech.

Wasn't the third the Mospedea one? This is from the Dana Sterling series which i think was the second one. Looks nice :D

Yep Onions is right it's the second in the series and I have to agre it was the worst as they chopped it up all to hell. The story and dialog seems to contradict a lot as well. That being the case I have ordered the real Southern Cross DVD set to see it as it should be.

And heres the arm in full color and 1:72 scale Getter (and his wife) called me a sick puppy for building it this small on my first try :D

Getter 1

Sick ass puppy indeed :P So everyone knows a Battroid form Spartas will stand 8.6cm at 1/72 scale :P

I was meaning that Southern Cross (original, not the RT version) was the only one i didn't finish watching... Mostly because the mechs weren't that interesting, but story wise it was well below Mospeada. About the only thing it had in common with Mospeada and Macross were the 3 mode craft.

Josh, your a sucker for punishment. Quick too ;D

I agree that the Southern Cross series really seemed out of step but the overall story line was great.

Will you be creating the pilot shielding that goes over the compartment?

Nice. I do remember seeing the shielding used in atmosphere. It was only one episode and briefly. More than likely it was there on a bad edit.

The fact that all of you are really pounding away at this subject matter is incredible. It shows how powerful the medium is for effectively communicating your enjoyment of the subject material. :D

Thanks Stev0 ;)

Got the body minus the rear armor tested up and mistakes and tweaks noted (most of em corrected already to). Pleased with how it all went together and that the chest worked out how I wanted it to. The B.Pak is quite solid with many layered parts.

In one pic you can see I'm toying round with a transformation. I cannot promise it but it is possible. I made the body half joint too tight on this one so it can't fully fold over but you get the picture :D

Well it'll be the last thing to do as currently planned but I'm dreading the cockpit as it means figuring out how to make the armored pilots :P

I third(?) the positive comments! I could never find any real good references for that thing.

Keep up the good work Getter!:D

Got the rear armor done. Been really busy of late so not too much design time this week :(

The Tank and Transport mode armor sides spread out to fit over the body half. It's a cut in in half and glue in that mode but a little modification could see it function. I am making the mapping of rotations and such for any who would want to make it transform though I'm not actually intending it to be right off the sheets. I'm putting 80%+ of the transformation work into the design to aid those who want it ;)

The rear armor mount bracket is patterned to work but I don't like paper as a transformation media so I just glued it together in a fixed position. The patterns would need to be on heavy card and a system of pegs would nee to be added for it to work.

On the legs now :D

I haven't been able to work on this much this week. I'm on vacation this week so I hope to have some time to finish up the design work for the legs :D Have the foot and lower leg parts planned out and shouldn't take too long to get em done. Upper leg may take me a bit of doing though as it's got plently of curve to it :P

Sorry for a lack of progress on this and any models for that matter. I have had a month of hell. Got a sinus infection during my vacation, shortly after that an eye injury I recieved last year re-occured, and car troubles all on top of trying to make Christmas still happen with loosing several hours of work through all this. I must have pissed off some one upstairs :P

Hope to get back on it soon. Eye is still a little blurry so staring at a screen too long is not good.

Hello All,

It's been a while but I got some inspiration to ressurect this project.

Have the lower legs just about ready. A few small revisions to go and it's on to the feet. This area has a lot of tricky geometry but i'm getting back into the swing of things :P

Not too much to show :P Been working on it off and on all week. Work is in full swing and I'm trying to catch up with it all :P Gettin old sux!

I know this has been sitting way back in the archives but did this ever get finished?? the hover tank / Spartas is a favorite of mine ..

Yeah I do need to get back on it. I changed PCs and that caused the delay. MS Paint is so much different on Windows 7 from XP :P

I did learn how it works recently though working on another old stalled project.
