Hello!
I`d like present you my newest project. This time very nice and interesting Russian multipurpose amphibious aircraft Beriev Be-200 "Altair". More about you can read here:
Beriev Be-200 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beriev_Be-200)
On Youtube you can see several interesting movies about Be-200. For example:
YouTube - Be-200 MULTIPURPOSE AMPHIBIOUS AIRCRAFT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4EgOj0WKRA)
YouTube - Be-200 english commentary 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdJzxrz1AGo)
YouTube - Be-200 english commentary 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph_YA0TXBto)

Model 3D is very advanced and I can show you now. There is still work to do landing gear (will be possible to make a model with or without landing gear), interior (now is ready the cockpit only), and a few trinkets. Then, of course, part of the development, testing, etc.
The model will have moving horizontal and vertical rudders and ailerons.
I hope my new project will like you. :)

Best regards.

This will prove fun to watch. I too will await this one, as I don't usually
build airliner type aircraft, but it will look good on the shelf!

Hello!
SJPONeill: thank you! :)
Foxbat: thank you too! :) The rest of the interior also I will try to do detailed.
mchale: of course you`re right. Paragon`s Beriev is here (http://www.freewebs.com/paragon19/civilian.htm). :)
Texman: thanks! :) I think you will need a large shelf. The wingspan of Beriev in 1:50 will 65.6 cm (25.82 inch). :)

Best regards.

This one looks most interesting - so if I divide 50 by 33 and multiply by 65.6 it should have a span of almost exactly 1 meter in 1:33 scale! Looking forward to this one!

Hello!
Thank you Wyvern! :)
looker: I use Rhinoceros (Rhino) for modeling 3D, unrolling of parts and Corel for graphic.

The landing gear is ready.

Oh my lord! If you never make the paper model, the 3d computer model would be enough. Beriev makes beautiful planes and you chose one of my favorites. Excellent work!

I hope someone in the US gets over their Russian Bear fear because, as a water bomber, this aircraft would be indispensable in fighting our frequent forest and brush fires. Purchasing these airplanes is probably cheaper in the long run than modifying heavily used commercial and military aircraft for that role.

Please, let's not ship any more manufacturing overseas. I like Beriev aircraft a lot but they don't make anything over there that we can't make better here. I spent most of my working life in the Aerospace Industries. Let's pay more to keep the American standard of living. Produce more in America. We import way too much already. I think the Erickson offers a better precise solution. The Beriev can only carry 3170 gallons while the DC-10 ( Tanker 910) can carry up to 12,000 gallons of fire retardant (http://www.fire.ca.gov/communications/downloads/fact_sheets/DC10.pdf). Retrofitting and restoring aircraft is often far cheaper than making new ones. It is done all the time and is a major industry in the U.S.. It employs and trains 1000's of people in the areas of expertise that we can ill afford to lose.

This is a suitable solution, people are working on this and the solution is at hand, see link: Evergreen Supertanker (http://www.evergreenaviation.com/supertanker/index.html)

Hello!
Zathros: thank you! :)
USA Supersonic: I think that Beriev as each plane has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that it can operate directly from the water, defect, that it takes only 12 tons of water to extinguish the fire.

Step by step, and I added next elements in the interior.

Best regards.

While this plane is not my favourite, it's good to see you designing it with such attention to details. I hope that when you finish it, you will turn your attention back to the 1930's racing planes.
Anyway, keep up the good job!

Hello!
Thank you Kazziga! :)
Before back to racing planes first I have to finish my older designs: Whirlwind (http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/design-threads/7216-westland-whirlwind-1-50-a.html) and Dassault Rafale (http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/design-threads/4755-dassault-rafale-c-1-50-a.html), which is more than a year waiting for a finish. After them I'll think about new projects

Today seats (Fortunately 2 pieces only).

After a few days short break in the design I`m back to the work. Today ladder, bench and rack on the rescue stretchers, which are in the rear of the plane.
I hope soon interior will be ready. :)

Yes Maciek, you`re right. Parts numbers, their number and number of sheets is more and more. :)
Ok, time to show next progress of work. I know it is boring for you, but I hope that this is the last or second last time before the start of the test gluing.
The beginning of the second sheet of instructions and two new sheets with parts.

If we manufactured a water bomber from the ground up in the western world, I would be inclined to say that you put me in my place. Problem is, we don't.

Yes, the retired airliner/military conversion to water bomber/tanker industry is a great asset. Thing is, even the best sheet metal specialists, machinists, NDI inspectors, etc can't possibly find every metal stress point in an airframe so used and possibly abused. Sometimes what they missed, and possibly couldn't have found no matter how hard they tried, can and has resulted in fatal crashes.

All I can further say is that I greatly admire the intestinal fortitude of the aircrews as they face a more heightened possibility of sudden death than most others.

Actually there is a water bomber manufactured in the western world, the CL-215, now upgraded to CL-415 by Canadair, now part of the Bombardier group. It just seems they got the most use in Europe. LA County had a demo of them back in the 1980's but didn't go for them.

I know that this is a "dead" thread, but I was wondering if you were planning on resurrecting the BE-200?

Thanks,
