I'm have a problem with double sided faces.

I have crated a deck for the Bismarck which has the upper and underside visible. I have used the double faces on a single polygon so I can apply different textures to the twp surfaces.

However, Pepakura does not seem to like this. When loaded and unfolded it has loads of red lines and separate pieces. All vertices's are closed and the only way to get it to unfold in a neat fashion is to delete one surface.

Can anyone offer any advice on unfolding double sided faces?

Cheers JTF

I don't think Pep can manage double sided faces (but I hope to make a mistake).

I prefer to work with two solid, one inner to the other and with opposite normal direction. Internal solid will have a very littler dimension so that the thickness is not eye visible.

When unfolded by Pep you will have two different unfolded sheets.

copy the platform base and invert the faces either leave this as a seperate piece or slightly offset it downwards far enough away from the original to not automatically join the parts.

Thanks guys.

I've coped and pasted the platform base and inverted the surfaces.

Rather than move one of the objects I've merged them and join the vertices along one straight edge. This seems to give a nice unfold.

Attached is a screen shot of the "Search Light Platform".
