Hello!
I decided to take a short break in the designing of Westland Whirlwind and design Hawker Heron from 1925. More info about this aircraft you find here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Heron).

At the beginning block of fuselage.

Best regards.

Hi Krzychu74. What happened? Are you tired of curved shapes ? Do you need some good old straight lines ?

Just joking ;) Another nice option this Hawker Heron.

Looking forward for more.

Hello!
Alcides: you're right. Sometimes you need a break from too boring things and to do something fast to design, easy to glue, and a nice to collection. :)
cgutzmer: certainly it will not last a unique plane. :)

Horizontal and vertical rudders are on they places.

Best regards.

Hello!
JT Fox: thank you. About my offer... upsss... in fact! I forgot about it. Sorry. I look for something not complicated and I'll see what we can do.

Heron can stand now on its own gear.

Hello!
JT Fox: maybe you suggest a aircraft (maybe with the radial engine?)? But please not very difficult, because then it might be a tutorial written by several years. :)

Next parts.

Wow. That was a fast design. Looks very good.

Do you use several formers ? I curious how you designed this time the formers structure.

Hello!
Thank you Luis! :)
And that is why I like these old planes. It can fast design. :)
I tried to make the best of curvature of the fuselage (especially the front). I hope that not too many segments.

The first few parts are ready. Colors are alleged because I have no drawing showing in what colors can be painted (about color photo, even I do not think). If anyone knows the rules of painting aircraft, the RAF from that time period (the 20th of the last century) or have any materials about Heron from books, albums or plastic models (if they are) please help. I will be very grateful.

Best regards.

The livery looks quite accurate for the period.

You may have seen this picture already:

Cool!!! The test build of the heron. Very nice.

Piotter I can see some "tabs" for glue in your 3rd picture. Are part of the model , or you added them ?

piotter
05-22-2010, 10:21 AM
Hello

Thank you all.
Alcides - you have a good eyesight. ;)
These tabs is my addition. Becouse of them Krzychu74 made some changes in project and any other tabs or stripes will be no need at all. :)

The fuselage and tail fins are ready - without small details ofcourse.
And first look on engine.

Good job Piotter. Looks very precise for something of 10cm of length.
How do you roll that tiny cylinders ?

nothing
05-23-2010, 02:48 PM
definitely an exercise in precision! this would be a good candidate for 1/33 scale.

piotter
05-28-2010, 12:15 PM
Hello

Alcides, nothing:

Im not so good modeler as I wish to be - you can see it on engine below.
But - thank you very much. You really embarassing me...

Anyway - I,ll try to be much more precise ;).

Alcides - this Bristol Jupiter wasnt very hard job. Only nine cylinders and only one engine.
Making the Calquin (http://www.ecardmodels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1910&highlight=calquin&page=5) - that was fun ;).
But I suffer becouse I cant use my favourite glue for cardmodels - BCG. It stains jet ink printouts.
In topic of rolling really small tubes look at this (http://www.konradus.com/forum/read.php?f=1&i=151363&t=62808#reply_151363) thread - SYZYF's post from 10-01-09 12:18).
Step by step guide in photos.
Even if dont know my (beautifull and difficult as hell ) language you can say: Syzyf in an Genius in card modelling !

Back to Heron - engine is ready, first look at wings.

Greetings!

Alcides

Piotter thanks very much for the link. Incredible technique and yes: Syzyf es un genio en modelos de cartulina. ( ;) Spanish version ) .

One question: Do you use that technique to roll the cylinders in the Heron ?

About your beautiful language a think you have to eliminate just some "y" :)

Beautiful engine. About wings: Are the lowers ones separated ? Seems to me the former was one.

piotter
06-04-2010, 03:51 AM
Hello

Alcides - I usually roll all tiny cyllinders on hobby drill bits or directly on templates. That how I made them in Heron. Syzyf's method is really great for long and slim tubes.

And I must learn Spanish at last :D.

You can see contruction of lower wing on photos now.
And traditionally firs look on wheels but today Heron is almost ready.
