Guys, do you like British, US and Soviet secret projects? Do you want models of it?

Something like this:

I think modeler like your design more than a subject...:-)

Darwin

Most certainly we want models of the experimental aircraft, not just of WWII but of all eras.

Texman

My only caveat, is I prefer the experimental aircraft to have actually existed. Not just drawing board dreams.

I generally agree with Ray...I prefer the subject actually have existed in hardware form. I don't think I would be hardnosed enough to say it should have flown, but at least been taken seriously enough to warrant making a prototype.

A resounding YES from this end.

I am in the camp with Ray and Darwin. Actual built X-planes, rather than the drawing board variety. And, I prefer those which took to the wing on a first flight.

But knowing modellers, anything you come out with, they will buy. 8v)

Yes, for the "real thing" but I'm weak and will probably buy anything you publish (especially in 1:48 or 1:33)

Yes, both real and drawing board. But 1/33 pls. The SNCAO is way cool!

I'll add my yes vote. A nice model of the Avrocar (flying saucer) would be nice too.

I too perfer the ones that were actually built and tried...........from all countries...........

1/48 or 1/32 scales are what I like to build............... 1/72 can be a little small but do-able............ unlike others (TEXMAN!!) (MICHI!!) the smaller stuff it too much of a challange for me:D

I for one would LOVE to see something of that Folland 117!
It's reminiscent of a Hellcat and Bearcat all at hte same time. Cool.

This one is real enough....:D:D

In most cases, I would prefer the 'real' projects but has everyone actually looked at the site Roman got his pics from?

http://www.unicraftmodels.com/

There are a lot of very strange aircraft there, which I would love to have, and paper is much cheaper than resin! As Royaloakmin says, the SNECMA is 'way cool' and I want one in any medium!

Cheers,
Mike ;)

Hi
I'm responsible for doing the illustrations shown and Alcides asks where he could get more information.
I got the info from Tony Butler's superb book British ([email protected]) Secret Projects- Fighters and Bombers up to 1950.

Hope itt helps.

Oke, I just saw that Roman already pointed it out, so just to stay on the original topic of this thread; how about this one:

XF8U3 Crusader III or Super Crusader........... lost out to the inferior F-4 Phantom II............ that should get some hackles up! :-)

I've got no qualms about that comment, but man, is that thing UGLY. Looks like a mutant shark or something. Maybe they were going for the intimidating look along with increased flight performance.:p

Thanks billy. I know about that site but I don't have luck searching for the x-craft in the flitzers site, like the bristol fighter f.11/37 for example. Do you found something?

Yes, and looking forward to it Roman - especially if they are accompanied by the kind of background/write-up/stats provided in your last .pdf book (Lost Eagles of WWI).

And the F-4 was Double Ugly. 8v)

John...won't raise any hackles with me, but I worked for a few wing commanders that wouldn't argue the merits of the Phantom...they'd just make a low, high-speed pass over your house, kick in the AB and point the nose straight up.

Then they might come back and ask if you had any questions.

John Bowden

You know me Ash............. I've got nothing against the Phantom........but I LOVE to stir the pot.:D

Some reasons the Phantom won out over the Super Crusader was it (The Pantom)had an extra crewman........ Navy wanted 2 on board........... It had two engines........... Navy wanted 2 on board........... and it DIDN'T have a gun.........later the Navy WAS wanting 2 on board!:)

Oh........ they also wanted a plane that smoked.....:p
