hi everyone!
aside my love for starships and everything related with non-canonic space travels, I'm also fond of heavy duty and earth-moving machines. I'm not sure, but my feeling is that papermodel designers (orlik, kartonowy GPM...), have always concentrated more on war machines, leaving in the corner common vehicles, maybe because a tank is more fascinating than a scraper :)
thus, I'm planning to project and build (I hope in a not so remote future) a dumper (but any other big model is welcome), like caterpillar ones (mine dumpers, e.g. 793, 797 etc.) but I'm finding it really hard to get some decent blueprints or whatever to store for the project. this time I need some accurate reference, because those vehicles are real and I'd love to keep myself as nearer to the original as possible, except for the scale :)
I'm aware of the komatsu papermodel (http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/2027/03425/index.html) donwloadable from "canon creative park" website, that could be a start but my aim is something a bit more accurate.
so, if any of you out there could help me, that would be great and so much appreciated. consider this thread as an empty barrel: put here everything

thanks!!!

i can give you two hints.

Look in your area, there might be some company where such viehicles are used. Just go there and ask if you could take some zillion Pics of the desired objekt.

The secound is, just ask the producer, seller or importer of the thing. they often are helpful. Especially when you can show them some pics of your previous projects.

I work for a company that produces construction support equipment such as light towers, message and arrow boards and light duty tractors. If these might interest you , I can get info for you to build models of them.

Try this thumbnail list paper model link-site for inspiration...Hamanga (http://www.d1.dion.ne.jp/%7Ehamanaga/ThumbLink/Thumb303.html)
Here is the Homepage (http://www.d1.dion.ne.jp/%7Ehamanaga/index.html) if the links have a strike-through the models are no longer, but you can still see the pictures...

oh-oh! many thanks to all of you guys!!! :)
it's a start, I'll put it all in my mind.
@ nosports: yeah, your idea to ask directly producers is very smart and easy at the same time, I didn't think about it. yes yes... ok, now it's time to complete my actual model, then we will see...
thanks again! :)

A lot of the manufacturer's web sites have all kinds of info that you could use also. For example here's Cat's brochure in pdf for their mining trucks: http://www.cat.com/cda/files/2009304/7/AEXQ0509-01+Mining+Truck+Brochure.pdf

Lots of good photos and those suckers are BIG!

hi gharbad :) thank you for your contribute. ahh.... I think this forum is full of threads like that... if only I got time
anyway... eheh, if my pursuit of references wouldn't turn out fruitful I could still try to bring this idea into something else... i.e. some kind of earth-moving starship... I think I need to go to bed now :)

Havn't tried building one yet. Canon has several.

How about models of these giants.

There is a paper model designer, Chriess, that has some heavy machines (search for them in the big list):

The Lower Hudson Valley Paper Model E-Gift Shop - Photo Gallery - Miscellaneous/Other (http://www.jleslie48.com/gallery_models_other.html)

a big (roadable) crane, a truck and a hydraulic excavator on tracks.

Also, here seems to be a Russian dump truck:
