Ok, guys... I'm leaving airplanes and space ships aside just for a while, to make this Patlabor from Paper-Replika free download.

I found it very appealing and I was wondering if I'm up to the challenge for a Gundam type figure. I even went and checked the Patlabor Movie, and see it "in action".

This is the protect.

http://paper-replika.com/images/stories/instructions/Robots/patlabor/pic1.jpg

I'm going to follow the step by step process as Jules commands. I started with the base, a series of cubes, very easy to make... or at least you can say that at the beginning... as I already messed one. That shows that on even the simplest procedures we have to take care, and not take things for granted.

The cubes are not closed yet, as I want to put some weight inside, like little sand bags, to make them more stable, and avoid the erratic movement when it's in display, and to easy the transport of them.

Looks great so far!

Did you watch the Patlabor movie, or the series?

The first two movies are excellent!

hi !
i love jule's model, and i allready did it.
If the build can help you, it's here : • Afficher le sujet - Patlabor ingram 01 (terminé) (http://www.maquettes-papier.net/forumenpapier/topic6421.html?hilit=patlabor) (with some custom parts of course...)

Hello Itla, yes, I saw the 1st movie. I need to find the other somewhere. I knew about the series, but I haven't checked them. Of course I will.

Yes, Jeanma! In fact, your model is my guide to many steps (and here between us, I'm an admirer of your work). But definitively, I won't do the cockpit like you did... this is my first Gundam, and I don't have your capacity to overhaul the model! Thank you!

More for today...

The back of the legs, and some exhaust things that I thought were jet propulsion gears... but the movie doesn't show it flying.

Also pictures of the thighs pieces.

More to come. I am really enjoying this model. It reminded me when I was in primary school making cubes, pyramids and other polyhedral forms. This time they are making up a bog robot.

They are not jet/propulsion exhausts, but vents for the friction heat caused by the suspension in the legs. And the bog robot would be the military version of the Ingram, which i hope Jules does too, one day.

thank you Milenio.
Your job looks very good.
Don't be afraid to overhaul something if you feel it, it's my way of papermodeling ;)

Thank you very much for the explanation, Legion! In fact, while watching the movie, I noticed that in the final fight with the "bad" robot, the Patlabor didn't fly... and I was like... oh oh, they are not exhausts..

Yes, Jeanma... but as it's my very first robot model of this kind, I want to go on the safe path. Maybe later I can add cockpit, pilot... the whole nine yards just like you did... well... not like you, but some.

Very good, let's continue.
Here are the unions for legs and pelvis.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09945.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09945.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09947.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09947.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09948.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09948.jpg)

And this is the pelvis, aong with other elements that form the waist.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09949.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09949.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09950.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09950.jpg)

And the belt-like piece.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09952.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09952.jpg)

But! I didn't like it! The gluing are too notorious. So, thanks to a paper modeling technique called "reprint", I managed to make another piece.

Next photo, to the right, the bad belt. To the left, the final version.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09953.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09953.jpg)

All the set together.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09954.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09954.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09955.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09955.jpg)

Then we put the pelvis to the legs.

Dear admin... how can I edit the title of this thread?
I'm still learning this area of paper modeling,
and it came to my attention that this is not a Gundam,
but a Mecha. I'd like to change that .
Thanks!

Continuing with the Patlabor, after time of no updates.

The construction of this model reminds me the cubes and polyhedral figures when I was at school, but now they form a big robot.
Let's make the torso.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09961.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09961.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09962.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09962.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09963.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09963.jpg)
As you can see, it has many angles that need to be glued in the right manner.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09964.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09964.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09965.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09965.jpg)
http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09966.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09966.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09967.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09967.jpg)
http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09968.jpg

What's interesting here is that Jules has a very peculiar way of create the pieces. They are designed to be glued in a symmetrical way, besides they are very precise. Very interesting.

PS Thank you Admin for the correction.

This part is the chest, where the pilot sits.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09969.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09969.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09970.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09970.jpg)
There was a little struggle with the curves. But a few extra glue drops on the internal tabs and that was it.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09971.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09971.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09972.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09972.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09973.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09973.jpg)

More odd curves here.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09974.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09974.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09979.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09979.jpg)

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09980.jpg

And we can complete the set.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC09981.jpg (http://papercraft.mforos.com/visit/?http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09981.jpg)

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC09982.jpg

Then I went ahead and I completed the torso with the union to the legs.

The elbows.

And the shoulders.

Police lights.

Now, for the head, I made it but the unions were very bad, so I tried to fix it, but when my wife saw it (my official paper supervisor), she told me "build another one"... and she was right. The final version came up better.

Bad head... just as references.

The shield.

http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC00340.jpg (http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC00340.jpg) http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/th_DSC00341.jpg (http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/paperjerry3/Patlabor%20Paper%20Replika/DSC00341.jpg)

Iīm not going to glue the shield, as designed, but Iīm going to attach it with some sort of hooks, so it can be removable. This is to take it on my trips to the IPMS Mexico contests (at least three contests around the country).

I saw my friend ever printing in A5 size paper setting and assembled so the same height as the master grade Bandai product,

and what if we use the clay for the joint .., definitely cool, let's make pose are like revoltech :) i found gray clay of product Lyra..

Rino that is very cool! Did you say you used clay for the joints?

gray clay..product of lyra...the colour same as the joint on patlabor..of course not articulated..but you can make same poses like revoltech... :) only static poses, ... inside the clay must be a wire...then make the poses like revoltech and cover with the clay.. :)

but that my ingram not use the clay..that is articulated modification, but i have idea for using a clay for next project ingram 2... and sharing idea with all of you..:) lets build again..hehehe

cool :), I've assembled, you should be able to use LEDs to shoulder like mine,

Thanks Rino. In this case, as this is my first Mecha, I didnīt try to modify it much... it was an "out of the box" build, so to say.

Hi,

First of all, great job,the model ended up really well!
Now,i'm new to paper models (but not in doing manual precision work) and i've to ask...
-what kind of paper are you using?In some images it seems thick like a cardboard instead of a paper;
-what's better? a fast liquid glue like "super attack",a slow and more solid one like a wood glue,or a "school" glue stick for paper?

Thanks in advance!
