I was wondering if there has ever been any consideration given to this ?
I am only new here so I am unaware if this has been discussed before.Personally I work a lot with card and paper but not exclusively.I really don't know if I should be posting here or not ?

I suggest you post in the category Other things we do and Make. This
probably will do until we get a Scratch Build category which I believe is in
works. That is only my opinion the moderators will of course have the
final say....Ron

There has been some discussion of multi-media.

The "Other Things We Do..." category is essentially aimed at non-paper modeling. Everyone has their own level of 'tolerance' for non-paper materials in their modeling, but I am of the opinion if your construction involves mostly paper, then it is paper modeling - at least for the forum's purposes. Slicing 'frog's hairs' (e.g., classification) is always, or *can be*, fun but shouldn't be one's sole pursuit. In effect, every model is "multi media" given there can be a paper clip wire, a toothpick, various fixing sprays and finishing materials, perhaps some clear plastic sheet within what is labeled a 'paper model'.

Perhaps modeling should be foremost an activity and not so much a "material". Attempting to set a standard is, by its nature, really an exclusionary process which is, again most naturally, a 'collecting' behavior (the ol' "mine vs yours".) Given this is recreational, and highly personal, we must accept the reality that *eveyone's* take will be different and hence equally valid.

How's that for 'breaking down barriers'?:)

My take on what constitutes an acceptable a paper model.
It must be constructed of 80% to 90% paper or card stock.
That leaves the modeler with enough leeway for substitution
of media for enhancements and scratch building of parts.
After all this is a paper models forum....Ron
