Introduction

There is always a reason to make a model rather than another.
In this case the choice to fall on Carl's house from Up movie, has to do fundamentally with I really enjoyed the film and also because the color of the house being derived from animation film with colorful and very strong colors, keeps this characteristic with walls painted in different colors.

Surely all know them but I can not resist to leave here the most striking images of the characters.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/Apres2.jpg

This chubby Scout (certainly due to excessive doses of burgers and their companions) has, for me, the most well done facial expressions of animation film.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/Apres3.jpg

The old and stubborn Carl, prepared by all means not to let his house be destroyed by inexorable advance of cement bunks construction.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/Apres4.jpg

Duc the dog also a traveler in flying house and Kevin the rare bird with a fabulous color.

Clip movie where Carl meet Russel.

(I can't insert the Youtube functionality at work!) Because that, here is the link

The model

On Paper Replika site is available a model of the Carl flying house. But as for me, with little detail because almost everything is printed, and there are few parts (60). Other than it is the colors are too soft, just living for my taste.

In a blog someone made one with a more complete but does not provide the drawings. So I had to get to work and do everything again from CorelDraw.

What modified:
- have redrawn all over again;
- Reducing the scale;
- I changed all the colors;
- Significantly increased the number of pieces detailing theindividual boards of the walls, the rows of tiles on the roofs, windows, doors and other elements.

Features:

Parts: For now I'm in 811
Length: 81mm
Width: 98.5 mm
Height: 100mm ±
Leaves of pieces: 8
Format: A4

There are certainly some corrections to make in one or another piece but only the assembly will tell.
I did not make a first impression in black and white to test but I‘m thinking then, with all OK, do a version in black and white to assemble and paint.

Some drawings

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up3.jpg

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up4.jpg

The first piece that go out of leaves was the ground to allow confirming the measurements of the various walls that make up the Carl house.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up5.jpg

Now I build all the walls and then paste them to the ground and each other.

The first, which corresponds to the left side of the house.
Pasted the parts that make up the two windows and the next is the frame of the footer.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up6.jpg

Then all boards will be glued . From bottom to top in order to gradually overlapping.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up7.jpg

Half or more already.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up8.jpg

And the first wall is finished.

Thats great! my wife (and I ) love this movie. I built the house from Paper-replika and like you said it is simple, and the colors are just not bright like they should be. Please tell me you are going to put your new (and much better ) version out there for others to build...i would build it for sure, and I know my wife would love it!!....Rich

Come on then, join the walls.

The first two.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up27.jpg

The union between both walls and the walls to the floor was made with glue tabs created for this purpose.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up28.jpg

One more in back.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up29.jpg

More two (parts that have multiple walls) to the right side of the house.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up30.jpg

And more...

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up31.jpg

The two remaining walls will be made again with other measures because at the beginning I did not let well-defined positioning of the columns and balustrade of the porch.
So the two top right will be changed.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up26.jpg

I also placed an enhancement to glue the floor of the porch and support missing walls because they don't finish on floor of the house but on the porch.

And then the walls.

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up34.jpg

More a rafter in the corner. I applied a reinforcement in the ceiling of the porch.

Once ready I pasted on the base.

I cut out and painted the cut edges of some "flowers" ...

http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae332/kings1209/Flying%20house%20Up/up98.jpg

And pasted on paper balls. The flowers of the Carl's garden are ready.

Balloons

I created a system in which, besides allowing remove the balloons, you can rotate the set so that it is always facing the wall regardless of who is facing us.

Thanks to everyone that post in this thread and followed the construction of the Zé Reis house (yes it was Carl! But this is mine!)

And because it's my, I decided to let it fly on the way to South America in search of waterfalls, as was the desire of Ellie.

Super awesome!

Watched the movie with my daughter when she brought it home, don't really like animation, but that movie was wild! Loved every minute of it!

Would very much be interested in building it! It does look small compared to the cutting mat squares.

Got them! Thank you very much!

Just got home and was able to take a look at the PDFs, looks great, nice graphics.

Would it be allright to print them on larger sheets of cardstock?

Will print on 11x17 [279.4mm x 431.8mm] size cardstock to check details and pixelation.

Having trouble finding some mylar balloons in the proper shape and size. Thinking I might have to go with latex balloons at 5" diameter. Getting the helium is the easy part.

Pictures to follow...

Thanks once again Ze Reis!

ZR: Awesome build of the UP house. I am new to this forum and I think this is my first post. My wife and daughter love the movie and we thought of doing my child's birthday with an UP theme. I searched around and found one very small model of the house. This one would look great over a birthday cake. I was wondering if you could share a copy of the model for me to build. I tried to PM you or find your email but was unsuccessful. You can contact me at my email: Personal email deleted . Thanks.
