Thought I would throw my hat in the contest with this one. Seems straight forward with a few fiddly parts.

Finished the cap. Little fiddly but smooth so far. Plume was interesting.

Looks great, Todd. I like the plume; is it one wrapped piece or layers?

Verrry nice job on the shako, Toddlea. It looks like there will be a number of figures in the competition. I'm looking forward to your updates.

Just one piece. I rolled it around a pin.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. The head is complete.

Excellent! Mme. Guillotine should be ashamed of herself. Can't wait to see the rest.

When I build figures, I like to build these early to have them available to help with the placement of the arms and legs.

The head, shako, musket, and accoutrements all look excellent.

The disembodied head reminds me of the story of a French Royalist cavalry officer of the Revolutionary era who had a dotted line tattooed around his neck with the words, coupez ici underneath.

coupez ici. Hee hee. This is looking very good so far. A lot of realism. Good idea, having the musket etc ready ahead of time.

A little tricky getting the pose right. Turned out ok.

The weathering and textures are perfect. First time I have seen a 19th century cavalryman's arrogance displayed merely by the placing of his feet.

I really love Zio's artistic sensibility that he brings to his models. As you point out, Don, the weathering and textures are perfect. I really appreciate seeing that in a model so much more than the "factory paint job" that so many professional models have.
This one is coming along beautifully.

I finished this one up. No major problems. Minor trimming and lots of test fitting. It turned out better than I expected. Sorry I didn't take more pictures during the build.
