Name this ship. It is around 500 feet long and 85 feet in beam, and over 50 feet from keel to weather deck. Made of gopher wood and coated in pitch inside and out. The long house like thing on the deck will have openings for ventilation and there will be a large door in the side of the ship. Any guesses.95784

that would be an ark not a ship. - no propulsion

I was thinking of the ark too! And if it is, and if it isn't, I have to say, ct ertz, your designing
skills are awesome!

True enough, should of said "vessel" I guess. I am making a model for our church. It will probably be blackish hen done do to the pitch used. I have no clue what color gopher wood is...

Ought to check with Answers in Genesis for some of the structural analysis and other such information.

I think the size I gave is using the large "cubit" measurements. 510 feet length. It is possible that the smaller "cubit" was used, making the ark 450 by 75 by 45 feet. even so, only about 30 or 40 percent of the Ark would have been needed for the Animals. The rest of the space would have been for food and drinking water, as well as the two legged critters who built the thing.

This is what you were pointing me too ryan? Could Noah's Ark really hold all the animals that were supposed to be preserved from Flood? ? ChristianAnswers.Net (http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-c013.html)
Some good info there.
I do think that the Ark could have been built and used for it's purpose. And not just because of my faith. I think it is interesting that given some of the other great man-made structures found in pre-history, and bronze age, that some people discount that such a vessel could have been made.

Are you going to release this as a kit, CT? I'd love to get a copy.

Hello,
This one will be available in the download section here when it is done. Just tying to determine scale. I think 1/250 and 1/600 will be what I end up doing it in.

Before logging in your initial post came up as

Apparently "gopher" may refer to the method of preparation rather than the type of wood. Gopher wood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gopher_wood)
