Gimp rulers

Is there any way to get the rulers to read in inches or picas instead of pixels? Thanks.

You can change the units in the status bar of the main window (next to the zoom level).

on the bottom left, next to zoom % there should be a pulldown menu, and just choose inches, points, etc. and gimp ruller will change. (im using gimp ver.2.6.11) i'm new to gimp so...
