I appear to have something special in my belongings: Alan Rose's "Build Your Own Saturn V" book, in pristine condition.
I have never started it because I kind of liked it like it is, as a book. After all, there are Greelt's much better looking engines and stages, Surfdukes beautiful parts and Ton Noteboom's Saturns to build. How special is this book and is it really sought after a lot?

It is 25 years old or older, I have seen it go for 3 figures on the second hand book dealer websites, and on ebay.

Alibris.com has 3 copies listed from $45 to $79 dollars.
Abebooks.com has 5 copies from $45 to $75 dollars.

and right now $45 is the cheapest I have found for this title

Other Alan Rose books I have seen as cheap as $2 or less

I was able to pick up all but one of his titles this way.

70+ dollars?! Blimey!
(10 seconds later...) Hmmm... Interesting. Now what to do with it. Let me think.

Hahaha! yeaahhhh! let's cut the whole book up. No, I'm going to take it to the copycenter, since its paper is too big sized for my own A4 scanner and try and make (for my own use, I promise!) of it and maybe make it one day. Or use parts of it because I think the graphics are very nice.

(The book is I think a bit too valuable and I think looking too nice just to cut up. I am not a collector, If I would be able to get hold of that awfully expensive plastic kit of the revell XSL-01 I'd build it immediately. I saw some of those go for over 900 dollars.)

Rick, let me guess,...is it the DC3 that you still don't have? Me too but I keep on looking.

I'm not Canadian dammit!!

and by the way...the book is not $valuable, unless you plan on selling it?
And if you plan on selling it, then you can't copy it and build the copy.
But if you don't plan on selling it, then it is has no monetary value
...so it shouldn't be a problem to cut it up and build it.

That's right. Good point. But of course there also is something like insurance value although for this kind of item it'll be peanuts.
But I am not going to cut the book up. At least for now. And maybe I'll sell it.
