It's very difficult to get the smooth run of the hull sections fore and aft, perhaps the most difficult part of designing a ship's hull, particularly on a hull shape such as that for the Mayflower. It's a very curved hull with a rounded bow, and paper models tend to use a lot of intermediate sections to render such a curve. You might notice the Shipyard models use a lot of hull sections to try and impart that curve, particularly at the bow.

One other thing you might want to keep in mind, the waterline runs as a straight line from bow to stern, which is not necessarily the way the hull plating runs in a model. This becomes a big concern at the bow where the plating, if you use a fore and aft strip, will curve sharply to the stem whereas the waterline stays parallel to the surface of the water.

Some other hull shapes aren't that drastic in the bow area, such as a clipper bow and more modern hull shapes.

Beyond that nit picking, this is a very nice model of a difficult shape to model in paper. Thanks for sharing photos of your project!

The waterline is much easier on a Mayflower Moving Van. This is a very good representation of the Mayflower floatie thing.
