After the fantastic creation of Superman by Olli I decided to build an other interesting model by him. I fell in love with this model the minute I saw way back when Olli first presented it here and elsewhere.

I started with the sarcofag and first put together the cover with the bronce casting of the King. I think it's a brilliant example of what one can do with this layering technique which Olli uses. The relief kind of 3D impression is quite powerfull and convincing, I hope that the macro doesn't spoil it all because to the naked eye it is very pleasing. It even pleased my wife which is a lot to say.

I will go on slowly with this one and see if I can twist and tweak this great model even further. So alterations and modifications to come.

Thanks Vermin. I hesitated a bit whether to put this build here or to the architecture section because this model presents a portion of a medieval church. ;-)

Hahaa Olli, thanks! Just a small update. I got the tomb finished. As with the King's figure in the cover I tried to enhance even more the 3D appearance. The sidepanel linings were cut from a separate set (I printed three set of parts).

I also tested some pastels and dry brushing to enhance the appearance but I don't know if it's actually visible. Anyway it's nice to build this and also play with it a bit.

And continue the story wit odd backrounds. Previous was an old Finish prayerbook page printed 1877 and the latter is a cover of an old religious book that's waiting for restauration (I do book binding occasionally).

Maybe I'm being dense, or maybe it's just that I can't read German, but I can't figure out where/how to find any of these kits. Can anyone help?

Thanks fellas I appreciate your enthusiasm! Worked a bit with the columns. I tried to enhance the fluted appearance. I took two sets of prints. First I made the column as was supposed to do - a tube. Then I took the second set and I cut the dark areas away and then glued that on top of the column surface.

I also separated the the bases to give each column an individual base.

I have no idea where this build is going right now but all I can say I'm having a heck of a time with this model.

This is one of those models that you show someone and go "..yeh!, it really is made out of paper..." But when you say your having a "...heck of a time..." Is that a heck of a good time or bad time? Hope it's the former mate.

Looking forward to watching the progress.

Cheers

Here's the Knight. Done as instructed so nothing else to report besides the fact that it looks stunning - at least to my eye. Bye for now.

Thanks Olli. Next I will proceed to the backround and I think I'll do some alterations there but more of that later. This is very pleasant model to build.

I have end this build now. My man-cave is in the basement of our house and it's flooding a bit dew to a very rainy fall. Soil is so moist that the water seeps through the basement walls, not much but making the the air too moist for me to model. 100 years old house and i's structures don't meet the modern requirements. This is not a total halt, just a minor delay. I'll get back to this and more models after the frost bites a bit and all living and liquid sets still. Some call it winter and I wait it eagerly.

Merry Christamas to everybody and a Very Happy New Modeling Year too.

Minor frost we already had and everything loked promising, but now it's raining again. I'll move my modeling stuff back up next weekend - otherwise I won't get anything done. ;-)
