Here is the last turreted river ironclads spawned by the Civil War. Laid down in 1863, they were delivered two late to fight, but that was do to the constant rebuilding and up dating that the USN required during construction. Typical Ericsson type turret with two 11 inch guns and two screws, and a large iron shield over the screws and rudder. The deck is armored and arched, providing head room for the crew while still maintaining a little over four feet of draft.

The model will be 1/250 scale waterline and will be somewhat simple except for the many curved surfaces.

The Marietta and her sister ship where sold at action after some trial runs. I wish I would have been high bidder. She made 7-8 miles an hour and could come about 180 in under four minutes. Both armor and guns were battle tested on other craft and found to be sufficient. The deck cabins were factory built as part of the plan.
