Hello! Glad to have found this place. I have been working on paper models for a couple of months and it's a lot harder than it looks.

Here are a couple of Delta 7 models I have been working on, both with fatal flaws.

I'm getting better at it, but I look at your members gallery and am blown away.

Since I have been here I have learned about using cardboard disks to help keep the ships round - something I hadn't thought of before.

Looking through some of the stuff I had printed out already, I found a Blue Gemini on matte paper that I can try next, and try not to make some kind of mistake on it.

Welcome! Don't be so down on yourself. You're just starting after all. It's when you've been modeling a few years and you make a huge mistake when you should be really upset. Not when you're just starting.:p

Thank you for the welcome.

Here's the thing: I used to build plastic models and thought I was pretty good at it. Almost none of the skills from that translate over to paper models. This is a lot harder.

It is addictive, though!

Plastic shmastic! Actually, I do still build one every now and again. But, paper is much more forgiving, and to me anyway, it's more gratifying to take a flat piece of paper and turn it into a beautiful 3-d piece of art. :D

I will have to do a complete build thread on one of these spaceship models. These are simple when you compare them to, say, the Saturn V or the Gemini/Titan models offered by the members here, but the simpler models that go fairly quickly can probably give you the confidence early on.

I also have an X-15 that I haven't built yet.

well for a first timer, I say you're on the right track! Those are very clean builds!!!

I have a couple of plastics that I am going to get into this winter, an Apollo 11 lunar lander and a generic Apollo CSM, both from Revell. I'd like to see Revell/Monogram or whoever they are reissue the 1/24 Gemini capsule.

But the paper models are seductive - I downloaded a bunch of the free ones scattered around the site since I have joined.

Like you michael, I was a plastic modeler first, and the temptation of a nice plastic model is hard to resist. I have two that I want to do sometime. That's the problem with paper models though. I have a "short" list of 10 models that I want to build, and paper models can sometimes take much longer than plastic to build.

I have three of the Delta 7 (http://www.delta7studios.com/dl.htm) CD's they sell on their site, and each CD has at least 20 models on it. I also have a bunch of single models I have downloaded free or paid for off of the internet.

I will never get all of these built!

I guess I'll just have a bunch of concurrent builds going on all the time. I don't know if it's ADD or it it's just like being a little kid in a candy store.
