Any interest in a KC-10 Extender in 1/72?

Cheers,

Avery

Want one very much!!! Are you offering one, or asking for one? I have done Bob's KC-135, and it would be sweet to have a small fleet of refueling tankers.

Offering one, in the future. I need some good drawings though, three views and sections (preferably) which might mean spending a few bucks on commercial plans so I want to be sure I'll have a few customers for this beast. Don't worry, I'm biased towards unusual aircraft so it'll probably be a go ;)

I worked for Boeing Wichita so am not a "fan" of the KC10, BUT they are a neat, big plane. I see them at the marine base here in Yuma, AZ and saw the converted 10 flying water drops during the recent Nov 08 fires in LA, CA area. Really neat to see such a BIG plane flying so slow and low, flaps down and just floating there. And they carried a lot of red surpressent.

How big in inches would that be???

Hi Avery,
Yes, I would be most interested in a KC-10, provided it is accurate and well detailed, i.e. not on FG level. I would prefer 1:50 scale, but that would probably be a bit big, and rescaling is no problem. If it is in the colours of the Royal Dutch Air Force, then you would have made my day :).
Regards.

While tankers are not high on my list I suppose a 1:33 KC-10 would be nice in case my GPM 1:33 B-52 needs refueling. Did I actually say that??

What a great idea, but the only plans i could find are at
KC 10 (http://www.the-blueprints.com/index.php?blueprints/modernplanes/modern-jk/2285/view/kc_10/)
and they may not be of any use to you

No, I work to higher standards than FG. I try to keep quality in line with commercial manufacturers like GPM, Answer etc. I can definitely release a RDAF version, it's a simple recolor.

Don't know about 1:33, on the other hand I am seriously considering a Convair Peacemaker in that scale, so maybe....

Many thanks for the link, every little bit helps. Interesting website too, looks like a great resource.

I'd like to see all of the planes you release in 1/32 or 1/33rd. That's part of the reason I got into paper models - huge models for a relatively low price!

Wow, a lot of enthusiasm for this one!

Jim, I've got some 1/32 aircraft in the works, namely B-50D, KC-97/C-97, B377 Stratocruiser, Northrop YB-49/XB-35 plus some surprises :)

You could pretty much put me down for all of the planes you just listed. Especially the KC-97. The local museum I work at has one. It's pretty cool. I guess doing the 377 makes sense to do the KC-97 as well. They're basically the same thing. :D

Well, they'll all be coming in both 1/72 and 1/32 so stay tuned! :) And by the way, I'll also be doing a KB-50 in 1/72 so if you want a fleet of aerial refuelers, that's another one for you. ;)

We'll have to see, probably in the $10-15 range. They will all be available from ecardmodels.com. :)

B-36 in 1/33?? Yes, please!!! I was always really disappointed that no one has done a good B-36 in any media of the bomber (not the recon) version in any scale larger than 1/72...

Avery, just a little seasonal inspiration

Have you got any plans to do other tankers, such as the RAF' vc10 or Victor?

Yep, I've looked at the Monogram plastic kit, and it looks like a big conversion, so I thought why not do my own, and while I'm at it, make it BIG...still some technical problems due to it's huge size, so it may be awhile...

Possibly, I'm looking at some possiblities for other kits including the VC-10 and Victor, we shall see...;)

I have the FG B-36. While it may not be anywhere near as detailed of a model as this might be, it is HUGE! It has a 40 inch wingspan. The B-52 has a 36 inch wingspan. Needless to say, i had to give them to others with more room.

the B-52 with the x-15 on the wing is hanging still from my son's ceiling, it's a great model, been there for 5-6 years, has dust bunnies on it bigger than some of my other models..
