It's a beautiful and historic model, Oliver.
It's beyond my capabilities, but I couldn't resist ordering one. At least I can pour over the plans and the graphics -- and who knows - some day, perhaps?

Don't worry, Don - it's not too easy, but it's not that hard, either. I thought the trickiest bit was the bow gun - both to design and to build. I wanted to do the soda-bottle shape of the Dahlgren gun justice, so I chose to develop it in a spiral. Bit fiddly, but not too bad :)

Some nice models there. Good suggestions to my friends and relatives for Christmas,

Excellent work! I may have to order one after the holidays.
Re the Dahlgren, I agree 100% I had an awful time trying to design one that looked right for my USS Monitor, and it's still not nearly as nice as yours. Thankfully, most of it will be hidden out of sight in the turret...

Your designs are always worth the wait! Thanks for another "oddity."

Another beauty Oliver. The Dahlgren looks perfect. Building it as a spiral should be interesting. The overhead shot is now my wallpaper, should help remind me to order it after the holidays.
Interesting in so many ways. Do you know if the 'wind mill' propulsion system was chain driven?

That does look really interesting. Thanks very much for deisigning it, I like this esoteric stuff.

Thanks, Douglas - no, the Fowler Wheel was gear-driven. It was an early cycloidal drive that gave superior maneuverability, but not speed, which is why it was changed to a different system later in the Alarm's life.

Hi All, Is this model still available? I have tried to order from Oliver's site, but the software does not seem to be working and I get an "Internal Server Error". Would like to get the "Livadia" too, but I would probably not be able to handle that build for some time as I am a Newbie.... Thanks for any help on this. Ric

I tried this site for you and came up with the same problems. Maybe he is unaware that his site is busted?

I just received an email from him and he is aware of a problem with the website. If anyone is looking to purchase a model in the time it takes to get the site fixed, send him an email and he will make it happen. Ric
