Thanks Guys. 8v) I originally wanted to do the repaint for Shoki. NOBI liked it and decided he would release it.

I definitely was pleased with the way it came out. Enjoy the builds.

I thought it would be worth resurrecting this old thread to note that the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Force also used the Ki-46.

See this J-Aircraft thread with many images, especially of Dinahs of 141 Kōkutai (Naval Air Group) in the Philippines (and some fine imagery detective work): Mitsubishi Army Type 100 Hq-Recon. Aircraft "Dinah" In The Navy!!! *PICS* (http://www.j-aircraft.org/smf/index.php?topic=13811.0)

Any chance of a recolor, NOBi? Especially since you have been offering us many IJAAF fighters and the IJNAF N1K2-J recently.

Is this what you want Don?

Yes! That's the Don Marsh profile of "Dinah III, s/n 5139, [141-103] . . . found abandoned at BAMBAN Airfield [Philippines] in January 1945 that had formerly been assigned to Teisatsu Hikotai T.102 serving with No.141 Ku." [to quote Jim Lansdale of J-Aircraft]

Although, since I still haven't build the NOBi Firefly I in July 1950 Triumph Air Group colors that you recolored, I hesitate to ask for it, but if you color it and NOBi agree to it and Chris sells it, I'll buy it (with good intentions of building it).

Don,

I've pretty much got it done, just have to find a font to match the numbers....... that "3" is a little unique.

Wow! That's a remarkably short flash-to-bang time!

Sincere thanks to John and to NOBi.

As the little verse in the WWII aircraft recognition manual used to say: That Dinah has a mighty fine linah.

I am standing by to purchase it as soon as it appears at ECardmodels, and plan to buy a couple more to use as gifts.

Just the luck of the draw. Playing around learning how to do vector recoloring, this made a good learning experience.

NOBi's the one to thank for designing "Easy but Beautiful" models for all of us to enjoy!

Nobi/John,

Thanks you very much, I'll be purchasing this one as well.

John, are you using Inkscape?

Thanks,
Gary

Gary

In all honesty, I have discovered a problem recoloring with Inkscape. It doesn't recognize all the fonts load on my system. And really it's the fonts I need to use for military aircraft! I haven't upgraded to the latest version........yet.

Soooooo...... while the version of Inkscape (Inkscape 0.47) I have can do the basics like adding the colors and modding parts, etc... it doesn't allow the added details needed to finish a recolor. Bummer!

So I'm trying to work with Adobe Illustrator - the problem with AI is, it has totally different tools, KB shortcuts and interface than Photoshop. Bummer again!

But AI does let me use the fonts I need, so I guess it Adobe Illustrator for now.

Still haven't figured out how to weather a model in either one of them so my Photoshop skills will still be need.

Thanks John,

I usually use Gimp or Photoshop to re-color. I downloaded Inkscape to take a look, but I'm still trying to figure out the benefits of vector graphics:confused:.
