Hello All,

I don't know if this question has ever been posted but does anyone know what Mr. Uhu's paper model scales are? I want to increase the size on some of the 2001's ships but don't have a reference of the original scale to work with. I look at his website but since its all in Japanese I spend a lot of time trying to use Google Translate to find out if he states any scales in his works here and there on the beginning of each model build page but not all the translation comes out into the proper English grammar and that is of no help either. Sure would be a great idea to suggest to the Master if he could post those scales on each of his builds which I humbly ask.

Thank you,

Morgan

They vary...ones like the SHADO interceptor, X-wing, and Viper are around 1/48, the Moonbus is around the 1/64 of the original plastic kit (determined by measuring the figure that comes with it), and the Aries moon shuttle is around 1/100 as determined by analysis on this site. The Orion III currently being beta built on his site is 40cm i.e. the model will be 40cm long and this pans out to 1/131 - I asked him a couple of days ago...

Generally if you can find some dimensions for the model, you can reverse engineer the scale from comparision to the model. If it has seats or doors, it will often give you a guide as to the scale. Going by the size of the doors on his Barbarella Spaceship and online pictures showing a figure beside them, the scale is probably around1/90: I increased the size by 50% and got a model between 1/72 and 1/48, I suspect, around the 1/64 of the Moonbus...

Thank you my good sir! That helps a lot! I think the USS Discovery One(XD1) was 1/400 scale (correct me if I'm wrong) but I don't recall seeing Mr.Uhu point out what scale the Space Station One was in scale. I'm using Foxit Reader to made these fighter space craft to 1/35 scale on either letter or A4 size paper. The larger ships like the Aries and Orion Space Clipper to 1/72, and the USS Discorvery to 1/250. I don't know about the Space Station One yet.

According to this wiki (http://2001.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Station_V]Space Station V - 2001: A Space Odyssey Wiki), the space station diameter was 300 metres so Martin Saenger's one @20 cm would be 1/1500. Here (http://uhu02.way-nifty.com/die_eule_der_minerva/2012/11/034space-statio.html), Uhu02 states that Model #34 the Space station is 30cm and thus 1/1000 which would be consistent with the info in the first link...His simplified version of the station, model #35, seems to be the same size:
