Hello, I am new to this forum, came over from other forum. I started into card building about a year and a half ago, I had made small ones over the years but never amounted to anything.
My website: http://www.usswhiteriver.com/
Then I saw the USS Arizona from Digital Navy and had to have it. Ordered it and here is my first "real" build.

Padre
08-13-2007, 02:20 PM
Then I went on to build the USS Porter DD356 for a friend who sailed on her and had her sunk out from under him.

Padre
08-13-2007, 02:23 PM
From there I build a few warplanes.

Welcome aboard! Great work. I don't think I have the patience to build ship models (yet). :)

Padre
08-13-2007, 02:28 PM
Then some more ships and freebies,

Padre

This was my first ship, USS White River, LSMR 536. Modified it and enlarged it from Modini Otter/Natter.

Great builds, Padre! I really admire your ship work! Not to mention the prolific amount! I have been contemplating the USS Arizona for some time (years). Was it a very difficult build? And how did you like building the USS Selfridge (I keep eyeing Michael's offerings)?

Mighty impressive collection there, Padre. I would say the DN Arizona is certainly a 'real' build - I started mine (twice) over a year ago and it's still a 'work in progress'. Welcome aboard - looking forward to more excellent builds from you!

Padre
08-13-2007, 02:53 PM
And a couple from Disney

Padre
08-13-2007, 03:38 PM
The Arizona was challenging, good detail, and looks good. I have another hull of the Arizona and going to do a better job sometime, put railings on it.
The Selfridge was simple build and looks good, enjoyed building it. Used pins and wire for railings.

Nice job, Padre. I, too, build period ships from wood....more modern stuff in card. Where did you get the Bristol Beaufighter from?

Did you encounter any problems with "Old Crow" or have any advice for other builders, Padre?

There is a build thread for a 1/72d "Old Crow" by Elger Esterle on the Kartonmodell Forum: http://www.kartonmodell-forum.de/forum/thread.php?threadid=3863

It would be interesting to also have a double-sized version from you, Julian.

Padre

Added a few more while taking a break from the Repulse and waiting for the U-Boat Type VIIc by Kooklik. This is the Yokosuka Judy from Inwald Card Models. A free model that is very detailed but directions are hard to follow. All flaps can be made movable and a bomb recess can be added. Used Avery labels (full sheet) for canopies which made it easier.

Padre
02-22-2008, 03:24 PM
am reducing my models by 25% to 50% so that I have room for them. Some that I have built previously I have given as gifts or presents to others so that I can make more room. I made this P-47d before but reduced by 25%. The canopy is a little smushed.

The ship I was stationed on was an LSMR, Landing Ship Medium Rocket. An LSM converted to a rocket ship. Firepower of a battleship at close range, speed of a snail. Rockets equal to 3" shell, 5" shell and 8" shell. Smallest ship with a 5" gun on it, two 40 twin mounts and 8 rocket launchers capable of 240 rockets a minute. Carried 5000 rockets.

Padre

The Sherman (GPM) with clutter. I did not put as much as the booklet pictures show or that the model has available. I did not want the clutter to over shadow the tank. I used wrapping paper and cotton to make the sand bags, then use a broad tip gray marker to color them.

Did you have much difficulty with the canopy? When I did mine it was a real bugger.

Padre
12-06-2008, 08:14 PM
It was easier than I thought. I used full sheet label (peel off sticky) and printed the canopies, stuck them to term paper protectors, after cutting out the windows. Then used canopy glue to glue another printed canopy printout to it. Wiped off excess and then glued together. I will enclose pictures of process next time I make a canopy. Only if it turns out ok.

As Mike Krol said, Wow! And as Mike (Bomarc) has previously said, "You are a building machine, Sir!"

It will take me a while to absorb all these superb models. Your skill, range of subjects, and productivity are all incredible, Padre.

Great to have the chance to see your latest models.

ModelArt JU-88 A4. Reduced25%. Nice model, Canopy came out better than I thought I could do (I hate canopies, some turn out ok-some not). Canopies can really make the model if they turn out ok. Still working on models everyone gave me (I told them what I wanted) and now more for this Christmas!! So many models-SOOOOOOOO little time!!. That really is way better than my trostiky(spellcheck?) one(That my cat sat on and destroyed...)!

You are correct 3Turner, my mistake. It is the Card Model Demon.

The F-100 I have had for a long time and found it on my computer. Either I bought it or got it for a present. I think it came from DeWayne Barnett's old site.
