2001 Discovery XD-1

I didn't see a thread here regarding uhu's Discovery model, so I figured I'd start one. :D Is anyone else trying their hand at this one?
I'm done with the spine, working on the fuel storage units now. An (slightly) earlier pic below:

Yes still on with mine. Half the spine done with tanks on and just re-done the engine housing in a stout card. I have avoided doing the cut-outs - particularly on the front face. Trying to do the front fairing at the minute.

What are you guys using for the core of the spine, wood or metal rod?

I used dowel. If it warps I'll replace it. The main components will push fit together so I will probably re-do some parts again though maybe not another set of nuts.

I used a 5/16" wooden dowel, and printed the parts to wrap it on regular 90 gm paper.
I had to print at 89%, due to the fact that I don't have access to anything but 8.5 X 11" paper and cardstock. It leaves a small gap, which is either (A) not noticeable or (B) easily covered by another piece of wrap printed out and cut to size. The spine nuts will fit perfectly when printed on cardstock at 89%.
