I attach a picture and files for the parts and instructions for making a paper electric motor if anyone wishes to build one.

Interesting idea.

Drawing pin = thumb tack
Cotton bud = cotton swab, Q-tip :)

Most excellent! Neat and clear illustrations. Would make a great science fair project.

Dear Bonzo:
Greetings from the other side of the pond, Is a drawing pin in UK the same as a thumb tack on this side of the pond? Sad that Radio Shack just went out of business. I don't think that I have the right wire or Snap top for battery in the junk drawer now on the last move got rid of the early kids toys that had some parts that would have worked

Thanks Miles, and yes. As Oscar Wilde said something like, "two Nations divided by a common language"
Have sympathy though, we in UK have to accept Paper Modellers spelt with only one l.

Took me a while to figure out how the cotton bud/Q-Tip fit into the project.
Looks like they expect the cotton bud with the small hollow plastic tube rather than the rolled paper stick I'm used to.
Point is, after you trim a little insulation off the end of the wire, you fold the exposed wire strands back over the remaining insulation. Then you use the hollow plastic tube to hold it. This makes it easier to push the drawing pin/thumbtack inside the wire insulation for contact. I think a little tape could work if you cannot find cotton buds with the plastic tubing.

Thanks, JohnGay. I am always pleased to receive any comments and advice.
Those who have made my Steam Engine will know that I use cotton buds as bearings and even pistons. To me this use as a sleeve solved the problem of providing a positive electrical connection and getting it into the confined space. The use of a soldering iron was not an option!

You could use one of those small hollow plastic beverage stirrers if you can not find the cotton bud/q-tip with the hollow plastic tube.:)

Very interested in building this.

Plan to hook it to a wind-turbine to see if it can make Watts.

Will have to wait until I can get to Anchorage, nearest local electronics store for the wire.

Thanks, mbauer. Umm Anchorage - Apart from what we each call drawing pins, there is the problem of paper size. The printout is sized for A4. Using US letter can you increase the percentage so that the model comes out apps. 83mm (2.25") long.

Silly me. 3.25" long!

Amazing. I have never considered making the actual motor using paper instead of just trying to integrate an actual electric motor salvaged from a toy like what I am trying to do with the Nissan.
