I have been wanting to update my website (Dave's Card Creations) for sometime.
It really was in need of a facelift and some changes.
I especially needed to modify the KoolWheelz and Free Models sections.

http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l588/cutandfold/Assorted%20Card%20Model/dcc%20header.jpg

I also had a couple of new things to add...like my "exclusive Paper Model Tees".

A while back I had the idea to work on some designs for paper model related tshirts.
I also had some ideas in mind for my own models and self-promotion.
I've already created some shirts with my own models on them...and I'm working on a few more designs.

http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l588/cutandfold/Assorted%20Card%20Model/dcc%20tees.jpg

Recently my Daughter expressed an interest in going to Washington and visiting the Natural History Museum.
She also shares my love of Military aircraft and wishes to visit the Air & Space Museums there too.

I was looking forward to the big Ajax/Toronto Scale Model show in October to promote Paper Modeling.
But now that show has been cancelled, and I am re-interested in attending the fall paper Modelers Convention.

I'd like to combine the IPMC and Museum trips into one trip with my Daughter....
but as usal, it all comes down to funds.

All my model sales through www.papermodelshop.com (http://www.papermodelshop.com) and www.ecardmodels.com (http://www.ecardmodels.com) are for hobby related expenses.
Those funds will definitely help towards a trip, but I don't think its gonna be enough.
Unfortunately I haven't been releasing many retail models...with the recently released Saladin model being the only new release this year.
Big thanks, byt the way, to all those who have already purchased a copy!

And so thats why I have decided to go ahead with my tee shirt fundraiser and set-up an online store just for that purpose.
Teechip is a site where you can create your clothing designs and retail them in a teechip store.
My website links to that store from my Tshirt page: Paper Model T-Shirts (http://davesdesigns.ca/cutandfold/html/t-shirts.html)

Please check out my tee shirt designs...see if there's something you like...and maybe help me (and my Daughter) get to Washington this year.
Or just pick up a model....that would help too.

Just an idea:
Set your 404 page to "Dave's not here, man"

airdave
05-24-2017, 12:02 PM
If I knew how to do that, I would! lol

Are you seeing a 404 somewhere?
Let me know if you find anything not working...I am honestly still debugging the site.

Often in your web site admin page you can find an option to upload a custom 404 page. Not all hosting companies allow it but most do these days.

I went through a lot of the pages and never got a 404. Where was it?

I'm assuming he didn't encounter an error page...
just had a funny idea (re "daves not here").

But, when i get the chance, I'll lookey see if i can make a fun 404 page.

How hard is it to set up the T-Shirts. I've been thinking about doing some, but there must be a few hundred different T-Shirt companies (everybody I know selling them uses a different company), so I dunno who to go with.

Its hard. Its a lot of work. I put a lot of time and effort into it.
You are too lazy.
Now why not buy something from one of your peers?
Why not buy a shirt from me ...and help me take my Kid to the Museum?!

Recently my Daughter expressed an interest in going to Washington and visiting the Natural History Museum.
She also shares my love of Military aircraft and wishes to visit the Air & Space Museums there too.

Then you must go to the Udvar-Hazy Center, So called annex to the downtown Air and Space. The main collection of aircraft is now at the Udvar-Hazy Center. Including important military aircraft and bits. Downtown is a lot of early man in space stuff. As well as interactive displays. And some jaw droppers. The shuttle is at the Udvar-Hazy Center and you can get close enough that it is tantalizingly just out of reach. Space Shuttle Discovery, Enola Gay, Concorde, SR-71 Blackbird, Boeing Stratoliner are just the bigger aircraft. Lots of on line info as to what is found in both locations. Enola Gay is the most beautiful aircraft in the holdings. That beautiful airplane will have you thinking, a lot.

Take a look at a map while you are planning. The IPMC is in Sterling which is not far from the Udvar-Hazy Center. Natural history is down town. Metro is your friend and the various museum sites will give Metro information. Note open and close times for the various museums since this is off season. Metro is your friend even if you have your own wheels. Parking a car can be fun and provide opportunities for practicing those special four letter words. Although you are planning for off season there really isn't any off season for parking spaces down town.

MY Daughter would argue that the F14 and F4s are the most beautiful in the Museum.
I think the Shuttle is one of the best things there.

I've been to the IPMC twice...and to the Udvar Hazy Center twice.

Our own Anne McCombs works there (as a Restoration Specialist).
Every year she hosts some sort of special trip through the Museum.
Its the highlight of my visits to the IPMC...LOL sorry Don, Pete, Alan, etc

This is one reason I want my Daughter to come with me to the IPMC.
But I have also never seen the orignal Air & Space Museum, so I want to do that.
And the Natural History Museum is what really sparked my Daughter's interest in going.

.....
Oh, and thanks to Anne, the Shuttle was not "tantalizingly out of reach".
Standing inside the wheel wells was especially exhilarating.

Anne? when do i get to go in the cockpit?!

Dave,

Where's the P-51 Tees? I'm specifically looking for the City of Winnipeg Sqn.

Thanks,
Gary

I am working on a Texan and a Mustang Tee.
Just haven't settled on the actual model yet.

I was going to do an RCAF Mustang...but not sure I would have picked the Winnipeg.
I prefer a more generic RCAF Mustang, like the City of London.
Nice red wing tips, no specific name plates.
What do you think?

Problem is, I have to build the kit.
I already have the City of London, and City of Hamilton Mustangs built.
So, those I can shoot some photos of and start creating the artwork.
I don't have the Winnipeg Mustang built.

If it has to be Winnipeg, then I guess I could...

But, but, but - they aren't shiny!
I've been to the IPMC twice...and to the Udvar Hazy Center twice.
Our own Anne McCombs works there (as a Restoration Specialist).
Every year she hosts some sort of special trip through the Museum.Well, my promotional post stands for folks who have yet to make that trip.
But I have also never seen the original Air & Space Museum, so I want to do that.
And the Natural History Museum is what really sparked my Daughter's interest in going. Yep. Both are dusty, but there is sooooo much to see in those sorta small spaces. It's a lot more pressure and stimulation than the new place in Northern Virginia. No places to step back and think about what you have just seen.
Oh, and thanks to Anne, the Shuttle was not "tantalizingly out of reach".
Standing inside the wheel wells was especially exhilarating.Oh hush up already;):);)!!!

I won't be too picky Dave. As long as it's an RCAF Mustang, I'm in.

well...I totally forgot about all the Mustang artworks I have done for my covers.
Of course I have a City of Winnipeg (artwork) that I can work from...

It doesn't have the red wings which I like,
but the blue and yellow trim (on Tail and Spinner) look good
so it might make a good Tee shirt design.

If you want to display(which we welcome) and if this year a trip to Udvar-Hazy can be authorized, then you can tag along, so nothing is stopping you from joining the fun at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Sterling VA this November 3-5 2017

Repost!

My last post got lost in the recent Forum reboot, so I'll say it once more...

BIG THANKS to those of you that have visited my new website
(lots of traffic!!! I'm happy to see)
I hope you all enjoying the recently added KoolWheelz models...there are more on the way!

and BIGGER THANKS to those who have picked up a new Paper Modelin' Tee!

Unfortunately, shirt sales are nowhere near what I need.
The shirts are primarily a fund raiser...
I mentioned that I hope to plan a trip to Washington DC area, this Fall, for me and my Daughter.
She wants to visit some of the Smithsonian Museums and I'd like to make an appearance at the 2017 IPMC.

But it all comes down to funds...of which, I don't have enough.
And that explains the fundraisers.

So...please consider picking up a custom tee Shirt Paper Model T-Shirts (http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fdavesdesigns.ca%2Fcutandfol d%2Fhtml%2Ft-shirts.html)

or go buy a model Paper Model Shop Home (http://www.papermodelshop.com)

or just make a donation paypal.me/airdave (https://www.paypal.me/airdave)

My thanks for all your support, and your help (in making our trip happen).

Re: my plans to visit the IPMC and Washington this year...

I have been given some bad news today.
Well, not "bad" news, just disappointing for me.

I appreciate everyone who has bought a model, bought a shirt, made a donation...
it really helps...and I will be continuing my efforts with fundraising.
I have not reached my intended goal (for my IPMC and Washington trip) yet,
but to be honest, I'm close enough that I could make it happen.

Unfortunately my Daughter is in a different place.
She has a farm to run and Horses to take care of.
And her Fiancee has confirmed that he will be in his last year of Apprentice school from October to December.
This leaves my Daughter alone to work her job and maintain the farm she lives on
(her Fiancee usually helps out as much as he can, allowing some time to herself).
She also relies on her Fiancee to take care of her four Horses when she cant.

So, she informed me this morning that she will not be able to make the trip this year
although she has given me approval and confirmation for next year.

I told her it was "okay" and that life must come first.
...and I said "well, if nothing else, it gives me more time to pad my account".

And thats about all I can say to you guys at this point.
It'll be a shame to miss the event again, but I am already looking forward to next year.
And I can't say no to my kid.

Dave,

While I do hate that you and your daughter cannot attend this year, I as well cannot attend.

So, with these options, I do look forward to seeing you again next year (I have no obligations!) yet, and do look forward to seeing you again.

Perhaps, my missus will be able to attend as we have no High School obligations!

Awaiting the chance to host a pint with you again!

airdave

Yeah, I'll have to try to bring something (to drink) from up here that you cannot get.
Not sure what that would be at this point...since everything is available everywhere now!
LOL
But I must be able to find something.
My kid likes Beer and Spirits, maybe she will suggest something.

You are 100000% correct, your family, especially your daughter, comes first. After all, this is a hobby, your daughter and the farm and all that is real life.
Indeed it'll be a shame you cannot make it to this years gala event, but, family comes first.
What the heck, as of right now I'm not sure if I can make it, I hope I can, but as they say, life gets in the way of the things we want to do.

Just enjoy !!!!

Thanks Rich.

I should own up to one error in my statement.
I said my Daughter's Fiancee is in his last year Apprentice school.
He does Electrical work.

Anyway, I have no idea if its his last year...not sure why I added that.
In fact I have no idea where he is (yearwise) in his schooling.
Might only be his second year...I know he was in school last year.

All I was told was hes "in school from October until the end of December"
And for some reason I turned that into his "last" year.
So...just to correct myself, thats what it is.

...
Yeah...my Daughter pretty much runs this Horse Stable/Farm by herself.
She lives in a House on the farm which makes it worse, because she can never leave work and go home.
Shes always there! lol
And, her Horses live there too, so when shes done with everyone elses Horses,
its time to take care of her own.

So I can completely understand when she says shes "busy".

Hopefully soon she will get a place of her own
...but then I will never see her!!! lol

Anyone having a problem with acces to any of my websites?
is your browser, your anti-virus, your anti-malware blocking access?

Someone has reported a problem to me...but I'm not sure what may have changed.
I know that Internet security is becoming extremely vigilant, more and more every day
But good sites and non-malicious content is being flagged and blocked for no apparent reason.

If there is something wrong with one of my sites, or if this blocking is unwarranted,
I want to fix it, or report the problem.

Try my various pages and let me know if you experience a real problem.
Specifically, an actual page or site block.
Maybe you could send me a screengrab of whatever you see? [email]

www.cutandfold.info (http://www.cutandfold.info) My "jump" page...access to my card model related sites.
There are three links on this page that will take you to three different places.

www.davesdesigns.ca (http://www.davesdesigns.ca) My personal Art site and the background host for all my web places.

www.papermodelforum.com (http://www.papermodelforum.com) Self explanatory...actually hosted on ecardmodels space.

www.papermodelshop.com (http://www.papermodelshop.com) Self explanatory

thanks.

Papermodleforum not working, but I think that'll be down to ecarmodels' issues. Other links working fine - for me.

Dave, I accessed all of those sites using the links you provided in the post and had no problems. I also navigated through the sites using the links on the sites with no problems.
Using Windows 7 latest updates and Firefox 56.0.2 (64 bit) and Google Chrome Version 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit).

I am mainly concerned with sites or pages being blocked.
Kevin reported to me that norton had blocked something.
I am not even sure exactly where.
But Norton's report site claims that there is some sort of "phishing" issue.

Only thing I can come up with is my email link on the cutandfold site or papermodelshop
(you can click the email image and it opens your email client)

or the Order Form on papermodelshop.

This are both outdated web apps...but have been there a long time.

If others were reporting any sort of warnings or blocks, I want to know.
