It's time for me to bring on another beta builder, so I'm looking for a volunteer. These are my requirements:

-You need to be fast, but accurate. I need the models built ASAP, preferably within a week or two, but clean and ready for display. I am flexible when it comes to time though.

-Some knowledge about the reference material. (If I totally screw up the shape of a part, or I call an oil cooler housing an air scoop, let me know),

-Attention to detail. You need to be able to spot the mistakes I missed, and point them out.

-You need to communicate with me. Keep me updated on the status of the build, and any problems that are creeping up. Also, keep me updated on any non-related events that happen. You don't need to share your personal life with me, but I do need to know if life decides to get in the way and interfere with your doing a beta build. (Vacations, sickness, family emergencies, tons of overtime at work, etc)

-Some knowledge in Photoshop. It's a lot easier if you find a glaring mistake if you can fix it for me, or at least show me on a picture what needs to be corrected. I say Photoshop, because that's the program I know, and converting between raster to vector and back to raster just makes unnecessary steps, and effects the quality of the final model.

-You need a good camera, and some type of solid color background to take clear, in-focus pictures against. I prefer dark planes be with a light background, and light colored planes with a dark background, with no extra clutter around the models.

-How many versions of the model I'll send depends on how much info I can find, and how interested I am in the model. (The 747 has 10 versions, others may only get one or 2 versions).

-I will occasionally throw other free models your way, just to say thanks.

Anybody interested, drop a reply in this thread, along with some pictures of your latest builds (They don't have to be my models). Anybody else, make some recommendations on who you think would fit the bill.

Hello Murph,

How big and detailed is the model? The number of details which take so much time is mainly the problem when time is limited...Maybe I can give it a try?

There isn't a specific model. This is for a permanent beta builder. It will help if you're familiar with my design style, though.

I'd love to help with the NACA/NASA boids, but I'm waaaaaaaaaay too slow in building.

As always, if you need reference pix or anything else on these aircraft, OR pre-1942 USN/USAAC birds, I'll be glad to help. I have lots o' stuff stashed away in paper and computer files.

I'd like to beta build as well, though school might get in the way.

Did NASA ever use an A-10 for anything?

Uhmmm no. Not that I am fully aware of. A-10's were to busy hurting bad guys.

But I can be wrong. Its happened.

But this sounds like an interesting mod

In 2011, the National Science Foundation granted $11 million to modify an A-10 for weather research for CIRPAS at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and in collaboration with scientists from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSM&T), replacing SDSM&T's retired North American T-28 Trojan. The A-10's armor is expected to allow it to survive the extreme meteorological conditions, such as 200 mph hailstorms, found in inclement high-altitude weather events.

I read about that, and as soon as pictures come out (Last article I read said they'd just received the plane, and were getting the modifying strted, and hadn't painted it yet), I'll make a version.
