Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would point out a link to a page detailing what appears to be a scratch build of a Dodge Command Car. I don't know anything about the designer/builder but thought this was so amazing that it would be worth posting the link:

command car papier (http://command-car-maquette.over-blog.com/)

Apologies in advance if this one is already known to you.

nice build, I haven't seen that one before.

Many thanks for finding this, Mark. I have a fondness for the Dodge weapons carrier series vehicles and enjoyed seeing this superb build.

I'm hoping some kits of these vehicles will show up. There have been some in the past, but I think they are all out of print. As I recall, one of us has a 1/48 ambulance version (WC-9, 18, or 27 as I recall) under development.

Useful sites for such things:

And this thread just appeared as if by magic while I was typing: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/kit-announcements/4161-wak-6-7-09-dodge-wc-54-a.html

My uncle had one of these in Pickup fashion for real.

Damn thing could go anywhere.

My uncle had one of these in Pickup fashion for real.

Damn thing could go anywhere.

My interest in this comes from an ex-Army workmate who has just bought one. His is in great condition and very original. I showed him the Papermodelers forum and he was so impressed with the models here he wondered if a paper model of his weapons carrier was available.

Thanks Don for the links. I haven't been able to find his exact model in the list yet. It has longitudinal seating, is 4x2 I think with canvas top.

I will let him know about the Wak model. Looks nice.

Propag Team out of the Czech Republic used to have a bunch of 1:50 Dodge BEEPs, Weapon carriers, Ambulance, Command Car.

They were sold by SPI Paper Models, but Joseph has closed shop, unfortunately.

Yes. I've seen your model of this one, Rick.

I do wish that these models would become available again, or that whoever was working on the new series of WC-based vehicles (I can't find the thread just now) would finish the project.

Hi all,

This thread is opportunity to specify how i design and i build this model (command car Dodge T14 without winch) scale 1/10. Photos show how i make :

First, i drew this on 2004

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/5046/croquisinitialmini.jpg

After seeing a original vehicle and toke all measures i drew a new page :

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2350/epure01mini.jpg

And i built all parts of it (time after time) notably tires etc.

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2072/jante10.jpg

Frame,

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7766/chassis013mini.jpg

details of it

Today command car progress is

i's not easy but very exciting. A bientôt

I can read a bit of French and Max's decision to build in paper was not driven by cost, but to be able to control all the elements he wanted to build.

I am most impressed by the tires and frame. Looking at his original thread build shots, he has even replicated the riveting in the frame (probably why those machines were so sturdy).

I think there was a time when people made prototypes of real objects like this. This model is really incredible. It is of a level of build I hope to achieve someday. (Oh who am I kiddin', i couldn't build something like that!!).

Thank you Don,

It's really true, this vehicle is "increvable" (robust and solid one). On 2006, I made a ballad in Biarritz in it with Pierre his owner. This day a part of history was on the road, and i took measures and made a drawings (see attach file).

Thanks for showing us your design and build Max. I do not speak French (I struggle enough with the one and only language I have) and did not realise that you also did the drawings from which you have created this incredible model. I had assumed they were some sort of factory blueprints.

My workmate with the weapons carrier (a WC-51 I believe) was very impressed by your model.

I love the little details on a model, they really make the difference between representation of a subject and the modeling of a subject.
Your whole build looks great so far but I can really appreciate those tires!
They look so real with that raised tread!

Very nice! Patiently waiting for more pics! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/aiw/ok.gif

Kevin speaks truth, Max, and it would also be perfect for the annual Papermodelers' display at the Army Heritage Day next May. Can you make two trips across the Atlantic next year? It would be wonderful to see this superb model up close.

Bigfan321 is almost right -- to me it actually looks not like paper or plastic, but metal, and full sized!

Max -- The latest photos show that the excellent work continues. This is one of my favorite military vehicles and you are certainly doing an outstanding job.

Here is info on next year's International Paper Modelers Convention, which takes place in Stirling, Virginia, USA, near Dulles Airport and very close to the magnificent Udvar-Hazy collection of the National Air and Space Museum, which is worth a trip in itself: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/museums-air-shows-events-get-togethers/6052-2010-international-paper-model-convention.html

For some reason, I cannot find the photos and commentary on last month's 2009 IPMC. The thread is there, but the postings end just before the fun began.

But we will be posting information at the above site as next year's convention takes shape. It is always great to see paper modeling friends from around the world.

Incidentally, the theme for 2010 is "wheeled vehicles," so your Dodge Command Car would be right at home!
