Nice start. You have developed a really great technique for capturing the essential characteristics of a ship or airplane or vehicle and translating it into paper in a very artistic and attractive way.

Clean crisp lines and work - this is going to be a beautiful all-paper model

By the way folks - those printed railings can often look more realistic than anyone plans. Many ships, especially military and passenger, put a canvas dodger over the railings to provide a little protection from the wind. As an old navy type - let me assure you it does make quite a difference. As a paper model - it would typically have the canvas on the outside, with the railing frame on the inside. On a warship, these would be threaded at the bottom to a metal rail welded to the deck. But, if there is a breeze - the wind blows it against the railing - and it looks exactly like what I see here.

Keep it up! This was always one of my favorite movies!

Wow! Looking great! I'm looking forward towards the day when I can approach your skill - I have several models in mind already.

BTW - I'm fairly sure that the forward gun was supposed to be a US Navy 3"/23 although it looked like something around a 57mm. There are a number of drawings and pictures of it on the Internet. Also, ISTR that there was a pelorus on the upper bridge - but my memory is hazy. The actual book described the USS San Pablo as a "former Spanish gunboat" seized following the Spanish-American war. That may be a factor.

It is a splendid model, Obi! It recreates the look of the old U.S. Navy Yangtze River gunboats and the ship from the film very well. I kew a veteral of these boats and wish he were still alive so that he could see your beautiful model.

Great model, I have to watch ( "Sand Pebbles") this movie again, it's been too long. It's amazing how many people have never seen this movie. The boat really captures the feel of the original, and the subject matter ( and how you have captured it ) is what makes paper models so excellent.
