This won't win any prizes, but the contest motivated me to build this. It's a stock build of one of my favorite racing boats, Donald Campbell's Bluebird. This jet-engined hydroplane achieved a world speed record of 276 mph in 1964. Unfortunately, Donald Campbell was killed during a speed trial of over 300 mph in 1967. The Bluebird and Campbell's remains were recovered from the lake in 2001. The Bluebird is currently being restored.

As you can see, I need more practice forming petals :o I also didn't color any edges.

This would be a great model to be redrawn (hint, hint) since the pontoons and main hull are not fully enclosed. Other parts such as the right splash screen needs to have the reflection corrected. Also, there were few markings for parts placement, so I had to use the 3-view for reference. One other note is that the boat evolved after the kit was designed, and sported a tail fin in the late fifties and sixties.

It is still very nice! I have not seen many other vintage Micromodel build ups. Thank you.

Sweet - I tried to do a build of this once, but ran into the mis-designed tips and put it on my todo list to do a re-design, and then got side tracked, Very impressive! I was under the impression it was in reality un-buildable.

Maltedfalcon - If you look close, the first pic contains the partially assembled beta of the Olten Hall.
