I'm simply amazed with your Sulaco work.

I have one question. Is it possible that you publish the model "on the go" - issued in installments like a serial? At this point it seems that you are ready to issue the front. No instruction - the pictures from your thread will suffice.

The reasen in manifold, but it boils down to one thing
- "I want to start building it now!!!" :D:D:D:D:D,
followed by
- "The cost of printing will be divided in part payments - easing on our budget" :)
and after that:
- "As the installments will be affordable, the world will be populated by hundreds of maniacs putting the thing together because everyone will want to make it too." :P

And the xxx'th argument:

"Please, will you do it for the lowly admirer of your genius work?" ;)

I believe Jan wants to fully build the model before releasing any of it to make sure it all goes together right.

Millenniumfalsehood has right. Iwant to build the whole model and after that it will be released;)

I don´t want to be pushed into progress...:(

Impressive and great to see that progress is ongoing...with Ken's XB-70 design almost complete I'm happy for this monster to wait a while before being released...will have to have the continuous ink supply system installed before even thinking about printing it out....

Anyway, it was only a delicate pleading on my side, and it's completely up to you - no pressure of any kind, only my sweating hands :)

Keep up the genius work !

Jan ... how was your initial build received when you put it on display? You had mentioned that you were bringing it to a convention.

airdave
08-01-2009, 08:57 AM
This is in no way an insult to your build...
but that looks like a very easy build.

Other than the fact that it looks huge...has a very large number of parts...is fantastically detailed and textured and coloured...

it looks like a very simple and straightforward construction!!!
Kudos for building such an impressive model!

if I had the room for such a model, I would love to give it a try!!

Millenniumfalsehood
08-01-2009, 09:46 AM
I think this model will be straightforward, but darn time consuming! Look at the antennas and tell me this won't occupy a good 3-4 months of construction time.

This is one of those models that would look good on top of an entertainment center.

I hope the damage wasn't too severe to the Sulaco's front end. I have noticed that you have finished two other projects it seems.

Impressive!! I'm truly awaiting the full release of this one. I plan to start work on the Endorifle soon, and i'm still hoping to see the release of the Terminator Endoskeleton as well. There is, however, one build that I hope to see the most in the near future as far as the Alien Universe is concerned. I refer of course to...

THE ALIEN ITSELF!!!

Actually, there are two versions of the Alien I hope to build eventualy, the original creature from the original film, and the Queen from Aliens. The Queen would probably be the most detailed of the two. I look forward to the challenge of building these two models if and when they are released.

It´s a movie prop from real movie modeler. But the movie itself was real crap.
The czech side was involved into this project as decor (prop) section and there was some our actors...but the spain directing was really bad.

Hello Alien99!
Are there any paper model of the ships from Nexus on the czech paper models forums?

hehehe. well as a designer myself i understand what jan is going through.

Yeah, I understand that too - I made several models for the german SF-novel series "Perry Rhodan" in the last years (just working on another) - and designing paper models with a fixed delivery date is even harder.

I just wanted to say that I have to confess to not be patient regarding this wonderful upcoming model... can`t wait to start it by myself. :D

09-16-2009, 06:36 AM
are you going to create a stand for the Sulaco? from the look of that CG mock-up of your entertainment stand, it would seem that all that weight on the bottom control tower-thing would cause the model to deform under so much stress.

Errrrg... Two problems Jan:

- I don't see the dropships anr armor vehicles, nor the Hadley Hope's Colony. You have to re-build your living :D:D

- I thing that you have to change your TV. It looks too tiny compared to Sulaco :D:D Or is it also a paper model ?;)

Seriously, you make a fantastic job. Even if I too are not very patient on having the modef buid-able on my desk (just have to add a small-enterprise-sized room for all the giants model comming :D), take your time, life projects are more important than paper modeling (Ouuups, I'll be banned for saying that).

We all know that we will have a fantastic model:)

The photo is from the Fantasy Festival, not from a living room ;) .

That black ship is probably some design experiment of Martin Zhouf. From what I saw live, it doesn't look 100% paper and I've never heard of it being published as a kit. Nice design, though.

Ing. Spendlik
12-01-2009, 01:36 PM
The black space ship is a plastic model from sci-fi movie Nexus (very poor quality). You can find more pictures from this Fantasy Festival here (http://papirovemodelarstvi.cz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6005)

One of the reason why there is no "visible" progress on Sulaco is also an offer from ABC magazine. Jan is working on a few simple models (http://papirovemodelarstvi.cz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=907&start=30) (top of the page, post from Tomys) for this czech magazine.

It was just to gie news from Jan, and Sulaco. Many people here want these news, and not all want to register on ZH.

If I can help them, I'll do. Maybe without naming "the other" forum - even if I think we have to cease this war -, as Gixerg as done - and is still doing - for Uhu's work knews, whose quite everybody knows that he is posting on ZH (just look at the first page of the PDF).;)

I prefer giving links to the original posts, ad copying more or less stupidly the posts from "there" to here.

Except if Administrator or Moderator say anything (I wish to have these advices), and of the discussion.

i think he might mean finding a place to display his models after they are done? especially one of the scale of the Sulaco that Jan is building.

Because there is lots of work to do instead of Sulaco, but don´t worry It still have priority No.1...The side cannons are boring me, so I´ve started the Top railgun - probably most difficult piece of the Sulaco....

anyway...here are some new things about the reactor section and cooling tower.today I´ve added some support structures around.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj274/tv1rj070/sulaco/progress141.jpg
and here is the whole thing how it will be look together with the rest of the engine section...looks fine

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj274/tv1rj070/sulaco/progress142.jpg

the format for the sulaco will be pfd container with the pixel images. Like the tiny (1:430) dropship released year ago.

For this theme I can say only this: You can make an Alien3 version of SULACO or the PATNA carrier. The model has some ligths in the end of the antennas and some landing lights like Nostromo. It´s a pity that the lights decored model is only in two shots....

there is sulaco (http://www.sulaco.cz) website. ...correct
there is countdown, which is ending in cristmas eve....correct
that´s all official known things:)

The countdown leads to start of the sulaco (http://www.sulaco.cz) website.
There will be only FEW PARTS of the Sulaco model available for download for now. Reason is simple, U.S.S.Sulaco papermodel isn´t finished yet.
Lots of modelars are horny;) for this ship, thats why I´ve deciced to start separate website (instead of Alienspapercraft) to publish this unfinished project now.

I´ll try to update this website with new parts of sulaco every 14 days regularly.;)
must finish my sulaco first...:)....then all necessary parts will be publised...so stay tuned whole next year 2011.....IT´S A HUGE PROJECT:eek:

So far I have section "sulaco3_-_02", and Sulaco3_-_05" . I believe either I am missing sections or have not figured out how it's being released. Are sections referring to the ship sections being released, so in fact I am caught up? Or is it something else? Thanks.

I got the one at the end of March. I was refering to the fact that the countdown clock right now is at 3 weeks, 4 days, and so-so hours. it used to count down from 2 weeks, but has been counting down from a month now.

I was just curious

In the past, real life has intruded on Jan's work...possibly OC Home Command has insisted on a bit of quid pro quo around the house now that spring is hitting the Northern Hemisphere or maybe he's simply off on holiday...if anything it may be a respite for those who need to play catch up in their Colonial fleet building programmes...

The plan is that they will all be released by the end of the year...real life notwithstanding (as it has this month), Jan hopes to maintain a fortnightly release schedule...which probably paces those who are building one of the three Sulaco-class versions he has available...

OH NO! OH NO! OH NO! Great another model that I must build :) I can here the printer starting up. This will be a great interlude between other models. It's great that it is released in small "bite" size sections that you can do between other projects. Not that it matters but does anyone know why it skips from section#13 to#19 are the sections in between to be released later? Like I said not that it matters just curious.

Went to kinkos and printed my first section. Out of order though I only had enough money to print one page so I started with the top rail gun. I need to finish the suspension on my king tiger first then I'll do the rail gun and post some pics in a few weeks. Thank you so much Jan for making this available to us sic-fi nerds. Jan,

If there is ever been a man who could lead a community it was YOU!
You got us passing by 21-12-2012 with the Gift of this Spaceship! :)

It was certainly worth the long thread and gave this group of people a goal, an aiming-point, a dot on the horizon.
And now it's up to them to give you the finest moments: many builds of this Beast!

Wishing you and your family a Happy Christmas and a Happy Newyear.
See you in the future.
