Contest rules are very simple.

1.Build ANY Maly Modelarz Avation related kit. Painting, additional parts and modifications are all acceptable.
2.Kit needs to be started not before August 1, 2009 and build thread posted before contest end. Please add MM Avation Contest – (model name) to help sort out entries.
3.Contest ends February 28, 2010 23:59:59 PST.

That’s it. Simple rules, no restrictions, plenty of time to build some great kits. Contestants may enter multiple times.

Anyone interested in donating avation related prizes please PM me.

Good Luck!

I am experiencing some sort of weird masochistic urge to retry the ARADO 196 (1-2/96).

Resistance is futile!!!!

I have succeeded in resisting but I don't know if my choice is any better, perhaps someone can enlighten me.

I will be building the F.1C Mirage (9/87) a true oldie.

Anyone know if MM is publishing models yet? Because the last model as far I know is from 2007.

I might enter this one in a month or so, probably with the F-18.

Alcides:
They are still releasing kits it's just that the date on the cover isn't correct, being 2 years behind. The Hood just came out recently.

They certainly do, but they should really do something about their numbering of the models...
The latest model is HMS Hood, number 10-12/2007 published in June 2009...

Ghabar, Michael thanks for the answer, and yes is misleading to publish ... humm ... 2 years later.
Models are too cheap to sustain any business or publish on a regular basis.
Models were heavily subsidized during Cold War as a part of National Guard system.
After Fall of Berlin Wall and democratization of Eastern Europe
Maly Modelarz have a hard time to exist as a independent publisher.

I've changed my entry. I found a subject that I have more of a passion for. It is a M-28 Sky Truck. Beautiful kit with lots of challenges.

ugh.... now a reason to build one of several MM kits I have laying around, but I have to move into my new place and school work is starting to pile up @ 4-5hours/day. With a long build time, perhaps I will enter later in the game.

I so want to build that Mosquito.

I have been buying some older kits (Maty Modelarz and the like)...
I even bought an MM A-10 specifically for this contest.
It was one of my first purchases.
I still haven't started a single kit!
LOL
I too hope there is another contest, so I might think about it again!

Toddlea

I would be open to extending this contest if I hear back with approval from the others that already started.

whoa...is that fair to those who have already committed to this contest?

I don't have the time to take part in this contest at the moment,
but even if I did, I would feel uncomfortable doing that to those who already played by the original rules.
(just my thoughts)

Toddlea

I always want to be fair with these contests. So far doctormax, cjwalas and Gremir are the only ones with finished models in this contest. They all need to agree to extend it.

I was surprised myself that there was so few into the contest. I think we didn't leave enough comments on the forum to get it noticed really, I think an extension would be best for the hobby in a way and it may get some of the newbie members on here to go I got time to enter which i suspect lots worked out no point starting now not enough time.

Toddlea
02-21-2010, 10:13 AM
I agree to extend the contest. So how far? Restart it and add 6 more months or just 2 or 3?

I am still looking for more prizes. PM me if interested.

cjwalas
02-21-2010, 01:51 PM
I say go for another 6 and we'll drum up a few more prizes, maybe? I'm sure I've got a couple of donations!

anyone hear of this shop has anyone bought from it I think prices or to good to be real to be honest? or is it that the postage is where they hit you? I found out you have to order more than five euros at least. So wondering is it good or is it a iffy site so to speak. There were already several complains from people on this forum. There are other stores offering exactly the same models with much, much better service record.

Hi gang,
I have a stack of old original Maly kits I picked up one day visiting in Idaho Falls, ID and have also been 'cleaning up' some of them. As we all know, the design are pretty good, but the printing was on "Communist toilet paper", as I call it. I edit the scans with Paint Shop Pro 5, a Win-95 era program that runs quite well in Win-XP. For those interested I'd be happy to pass on some hints & tips. We paper builders share things, you know.

Anyway, I will do the Tu-114. I checked the kit colors against photos posted in Airliners.net and made a few changes. Maly Modelarz has come a long way since the Tu-114 days, but I can't resist building these old kits. The attached photo shows a before and after of a couple of parts.

seems to be the case, have to wait to see when they arrive in the mean time can find decals and paint schemes anyway rather like this one i found of a mig 29 from Slovakia that i found when looking for mig 29 decals may be way to hard to do but it would look so cool.

Your right Chris. It really should have a build thead. Andrew, would you start one please.

It's judging time!

I tried to make this as easy as possible. From the pictures below (please let me know if I missed anyone), decide which entry you feel should win first place by noting the entry number. Continue until you have selected a first through third place. PM me your selections.

Judging is open to anyone registered in the forum. Please only one PM per registrant.

Refer to individual build threads for additional pictures.

Judging suggestions:

Rate entries based on craftsmanship including seams, accuracy and overall cleanliness.

Building speed and entry submission time shouldn't be a deciding factor.

Things to consider if tie breakers are necessary:

How badly the kit was designed versus how good the finished model turned out.

This contest is based on an appreciation of modeling skill. Some of the entries in this competition were badly designed. A talented builder can make even a bad model look good.(silk purse) Judge accordingly.

The above suggestions are only suggestions. Please vote anyway you choose.

Voting ends midnight September 15th 23:59:59 PST. Votes will be tallied and posted as well as prizes awarded.

Good Luck and Congratulations to All!
