Some time ago, I started cleaning and unfolding the wonderful Matthew_Ts' model of Grizzly.

Now that is done, I will post my beta building report here:

Torso parts already glued, and other bits built...
http://img37.imagevenue.com/loc890/th_10094_parts_torso02_122_890lo.jpg (http://img37.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=10094_parts_torso02_122_890lo.jpg)

This is not an easy model, and I did not started the hardest parts yet, at that time.

The fitting is not the best I did, I will need to make some adjustments before releasing the model.

Next, torso parts glued in place, again with several fitting problems, I will correct these in the final release (I hope).

Shiftdel, fantastic work as always! Glad to see you are still around, too. If you need a beta-builder, let me know.

Well, I never said that I'm a fast builder ;)

Surely I will need beta builders for the revised version, I made a lot of improvements and corrections which need to be tested before releasing.

As soon I finish this one, I will let you know, thanks!

Almost there...

Here they are all 102 parts which I built, only 3 left, but I'm not going to build them, as they ended up to small and almost useless, because they would be partially covered by other parts.

Now I'll start building the sub-assemblies till the final build. I'm planning to put some joints, so I can dismantle it for storage purposes ;)

COOL! I just finished building your Catapult and Walter Whathisbucket's Timberwolf. They have become my son's favorite toys, especially the Catapult (congratulations, you made a 3-yeard old very happy:))

Now I'm looking forward to this one, too.

Thanks for all the great work, Shiftdel!

Great to hear about your 3 years old son, it's amazing how the youngest children love Mechs... ;)

He carries them EVERYWHERE! Usually he's pretty good with them. I'm not sure what happened yesterday, but I got home from class and spent about half an hour as a repair bay. One foot, one leg, and one arm. It's a good test of my "build it tough" skills.

Walter's Timberwolf (got carried away resizing it), your Catapult, and a plastic Marauder Suit from Starship Troopers.

Not sure what's going on, but it looks exciting! Why an advanced race like the Tau are using a Bradley is beyond me, though.

The colors are off because I have a new printer I want to install, but I'm cheap, so I've been trying to burn up the last of the ink in the old one. I'm also trying to convince the local Battletech players to start a 28mm-scale game.

I am not into Battletech, but I think that these models are FNATASTIC!!!
You did a GREAT job on them!!!
Keep up the great work.

Thanks. Actually, the camera hides a lot of flaws. And 2 days later I was the repair bay-glueing on arms and legs. He'd wrapped them in a blanket to keep them warm!

I'd like to add some more to the collection. The hovercraft is Toposolitario's Walrus, and my next project is some Chapparal motorcycles from Ebbles miniatures. After that, a Siege Tank from Starcraft. By then I hope the Grizzly's done. If not, I'm thinking of adding a 28mm version of my modified Marauder. It'd be a kitbash of the Mad Cat, a Marauder, and a few other odds and ends. Incidentally, I resized the Mad Cat before I built it. I got a little carried away, apparently. It's supposed to be about the same size as the Catapult, but it ended up about 2 inches taller.

Almost done:

Major sub-assemblies done:

Ams glued in place, as well the arm joints (the roseish color of the joints is by lack of blue and yellow ink color on my printer, and I'm too cheap to print other parts...):

Sometimes miracles did happen... I did finish my Grizzly's beta build, after more than one year since I started it!!!

Some pics of the finished model:
http://img202.imagevenue.com/loc5/th_49489_grizzly_final01_122_5lo.jpg (http://img202.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=49489_grizzly_final01_122_5lo.jpg) http://img18.imagevenue.com/loc122/th_49497_grizzly_final02_122_122lo.jpg (http://img18.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=49497_grizzly_final02_122_122lo.jpg) http://img203.imagevenue.com/loc383/th_49504_grizzly_final03_122_383lo.jpg (http://img203.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=49504_grizzly_final03_122_383lo.jpg)

Although its torso is heavy, it stands by itself even with the joints at the legs.

It took me some extra time, because I changed my mind about to put joints on it (after building the parts without joints), so I had to model the custom made joints for it, and even to build new parts to receive the joints (who wants a spare hip without joints?).

Below you see the parts split.

Great news shiftdel. And well done. I asked you back at mech3.org how long it took you to finish the model, but you answered my question here............but it is a sense of great feeling after working for so long with a model and finally seeing the finished product. I remember the L5 I made. Took me roughly a year too.

So now. May I ask you please, please, if you are going to do a next release, please let it by the Templar :)

Well, I'm working on BlackKnight and Templar, and both are roughly at the same stage of cleaning... everything will depends how much trouble I will have to splitting the parts, I use to go through the easier route first (as I did with Hauptmann, which I started later but finished first, as it is a really easy model to clean) ;)

But I will try to finish Templar first...

A very mean looking mech! Was the original texture done in an alpha?

Surely yes, because it was used on MekTek game pack, but I don't have the original texture to work with, only this gray one.

I guess someone should have, otherwise I can ask Matthew_TS, the designer of the 3D model, who gently allowed me to convert it to paper media.
