Well everyone here is my latest build, what a great model to build, it had no bad issues and went together really nice.
I built it over a week and a half time span, and only did a couple of minor changes, like adding pieces of tissue dipped in white glue/water to the joints of the landing gear legs where they join the body and a couple of other places, just to clean up those area's I call it creative camouflage, anyway I hope you all like it
Later.....Craig:D

Nice build friend, It would have been nice to have some build pictures too ;) That deserves a moon surface to stand it on, and perhaps a moonscape background would look pretty cool too - just a thought.:)

Yea just get the moonscape props from that "faked" lunar landing decades ago!

Beautiful build, Chris.
Clean glueing and crisp folds. I'd love to tackle that, I have the files, but don't think I can do it justice.

Any build pics would be nice to see.

I built this model for my son (we built it together) for school project. I took a 16 x 16 inch piece of wood, put a thin layer of sheet rock compound on it. I used a sponge (a big one) that had large pores and touched it to the wet compound, lifting it vertically, voila, instant moon surface. By playing with the sponge using different pressures I was able to make a really neat surface. I used a paint brush to simulate the blast area by brushing from the center out. It is still in the school on display.

Your model did come better than mine I must say.

One question if I may?

What models are these, and from where did you guys get them?

Okay, that's really two questions. But I'm so flabbergasted from seeing these beautiful builds that the only thing I can think is, "I have GOT to get me one of these!"

Lancer I think I got this one from Jleslie's web site http://www.jleslie48.com/, there are lots of great models there to download and they are all FREE

Has anyone figured out how to make the landing gear fold up and deploy like the real one? I ask because I plan on building one to go with Greelt's Saturn V when it is completed, and I feel like it needs the extra detail. :D

Leo came up with a very creative way to stow the landing gear on a Russian LEK. Just go to this link...

LEM (http://www.cardmodels-r.narod.ru/html/LEK-e.htm)

and download the model on the right and check out the last page to see how he made it work. Perhaps a similar technique could be used on a LM model.

actually the big wood frame around it is a dead giveaway.

but I doubt the Soviet Union would catch that ;)

I built the LM last year for the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing. I finished it in August of '09. A little late. I started an up-scale 1/24 but put it aside for now. I plan on flying it as a rocket.(1/24)
The last pic shows a size relation to a Estes Mars Lander.

Take pics. I'm thinking of doing a build.

Merzo, Thank you for posting this excellent build. The quality is absolutely fantastic.
May I ask where the plans for the CSM came from, as it is much better than some I have seen.
I am also interested in your use of metal and foils, both on the Command Module and the Descent Stage.
And, at the risk of asking too many questions, are the Descent Stage legs articulated or fixed?
Again I congratulate you on this excellent model.
