And why NOT a two-headed mutant chicken? Makes perfect sense to me. Anyway, here are some shots of the white model prototype.

I wanted to create an organic model using the simplest forms possible. Since I'm still fumbling around trying to learn Blender on my Mac (I have yet been able to figure out how to flatten the shapes I build in Blender into usable flat shapes), I've been forced to design the parts to the chicken by hand and testing them by trail and error. All artwork has been created in Adobe Illustrator.. just like I did with the Kolywopter. To date, I've done several white model builds. And every one showed obviouse problems. However, slowly, the model is coming together.

By far, the most difficult part to design (in my opinion) was the body. I wanted a chunky, simple design that could also support the weight and stress of the wings and heads. I ended up designing a simple interior support structure that slips inside the body before it's sealed up. I am particularly fond of the feet.

Amazing. In 1969, I was car-camping with my family across country from Fort Benning, Georgia, to the Presidio of Monterey, taking a long scenic route via National and state parks. Coming up into Arizona from Mexico, we kept seeing signs advertising the "Two-headed Chicken." We decided to see the Chiricahua National Monument instead.

Ever after, the unseen "Two-Headed Chicken" has been a family by-word for an entire class of strange roadside attractions. I'm glad finally to see what the creature would have looked like. Thanks, David -- nice model.

I've actually already completed the coloring. Very bright, vivid colors. And I can't wait to get to the mutant chicks! There are three baby chick designs that will accompany this model.

I really love the stuff you're doing, David. A wonderful way to break loose from a lot of the traditional paper model mentality (not that there's anything wrong with that!). But variety is the spice of life, and I can't wait till you get to doing some of your wonderful vehicle designs as models. Great stuff!

David,

Anyway you can make it so that it can be used to make simple decisions like yes or no? This could be an extremely valuable decision aid for government and business alike..., Just ask the two headed chicken..., A must have item for every desk, office and cubicle...,

Oh wow.... I've just GOT to make a model of Mike. Has to happen. The body will, of course have to be different. And the model would need to be a little more realistic I think. But yeah, gotta do it.

What fascinates me about paper models is that ANYONE can design a model. There is no limit to what can be created, and there are no extra costs other than the time spent by the designer (and maybe a few reams of cardstock).
Instead of just the usual four or five accepted catagories, which are wonderful, a designer can now recreate any object they please. I love the vareity of objects I've seen modeled and posted on the net. Animals, fruit, sushi, bizzare vehicles from cult films and video games, characters, potted plants, functional machines, and even raw meat! I was an avid modeler in plastic as a kid... but, I have to say, that I love the potential of this medium even more. Wish I knew how use the 3d software better. And to think I'd actually find a use for those geometry classes I slept through in highschool!

It's done. I'll post the downloadable pdf on my website this weekend. It will be available monday morning. I'd recently realized that I needed to actually finish all the projects I've had hanging out in the wind. So I took a break from everything else and focused on this one.

It was fun. I like the stance, and the form. And I dig the feet. :)

You will need to bend and twist the various feathers, and head dresses to help make the piece look more organic and wild.

I hope you will enjoy.

We do just the opposite. Signs for "Alligator Farm", "UFO Watch Tower" and such pretty much chart our path when we take family trips. They always have the best souvenirs and yield the best pictures.

Oh yes, very cool model. How about a whole series of Barnyard Oddities?

Chickens? with two heads?
Is this a joke?
Are you trying to say something?...to Mike?
This is an insult to Mike.
I can't believe you have done this!

In case you're stumped...
do a search...for Mike...the Chicken

thats Mike...the Headless Chicken!

Yeah, Mike was a cool dude. Too bad he didn't live to a ripe old age, but I'm sure it was a good life. Such as it was. Hey, he didn't have to worry 'bout nuthen. Wasn't capable of it.

The poor Two-Headed Chicken on the other hand, has two heads so as to worry twice as much.

The poor thing.

I'll have the "download" button working on my website by monday for those of you who might be interested in downloading the model.

That is totally cool, have to do one for my buddy that works out at the nuke plant since I'm always kidding him about the 2 headed coyotes running around out there.

I think this is a great example of "Folk Art" IMHO. I can easily see a wind powered one made of wood on a lawn. Great, really great!

Hi David,
I have been to your website several times to follow the progress of your designs. Very cool stuff!

I saw your sketches for the 2-headed chicken and wondered how you were going to pull that one off. It looks like you have done this qute cleverly. That's what I really appreciate about other designer's work. I love to see how they engineered a model.

I'm looking forward to checking out the download. Thanks!

Best Regards,
