This week I decided to pick one of the many nice architectural models that Mike Stamper has been building lately - so I came up with the Tower of London. Build thread is here (http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/architectural-models/6277-tower-london.html#post97529).

Great job Mike, and great selection Dan. Seconding Douglas - is this a macro-build or braille-scale?

Oh, base size is only A4 paper!. Very small yet very fine build!

The Tower came out very well, Mike! I love the look of the older hand drawn models. Not as technically accurate perhaps, but they make up for it in pure charm, and you did a fine job of building it.

Thanks for the compliments - they malke a not too easy build worth all the effort !

One advantage of the handpainted kits is that all the reverse sides are unpainted so all the battlements had to be painted, so this blends in nicely with the original art work.

I'll have the model at a UK show next month - see the "shows" section for info.

Thanks again

Mike

Congrats on POTW :D

Great build there, however when the wife saw the pic she said I want one :P Did I read right that it was a micro model scaled up? I know nothing about micro models but did find one of the tower itself on Cannon's site. Not the type of model I normally build but looks like it will be doing my 1st building soon :P

Agian congrats :D ...............and thanks for inadvertantly giving me another job to do :P

The kit was published by "Heritage Models" This company doesn't exist any more. The style is very similar to the Micromodels but at least twice the size.

The kit is not easy to find so you have a good excuse for making the Canon version ! Their kit is just the white tower - the main building in the middle of the castle complex.

I would guess that it's a lot easier to make as well!

Cheers
Mike
