Ok - so Carl (Golden Bear) says he's pretty much done with his new design / build - the R.F. Iéna, 1898 in 1:250 scale. The build thread is here (http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/ships-watercraft/6563-r-f-iena-1898-1-250-a-7.html#post111231). Carl is one of the true masters in designing and building, and this is another stunning ship.

Great job, had got behind on post for so hadn't checked in on that thread for awhile. Guess I'd better head over there and see what I've missed.

Even with the amazingly high standard of POTW, this model is in a class all its own: I enjoyed following the design thread and will follow the current build thread with interest...

Do previous POTW go into a Paper Modelers Hall of Fame?

Whoooooeee! That's Goood! OMG! Yes, Yes! YESSSSS! (I like it.) (A lot.)

Golden Bear, you are an acknowledged Master and I am just an humble gluefingered hacker, so it doesn't mean much, but well, um, WOW! That's a nice boat. Can't wait to see some more pix.

Absolutely beautiful. A beautiful ship. I must buy a bigger coat, so that when I go to Poland to "borrow" lehcyfer ship I can also visit you and aahh... aahhh... persuade you to lend me this beauty... Ah... What is your address again, Carl?

Thanks, Dan! I still need to do the studio shots even.

Honestly I believe that the pictures you post of 'in process; fiddly bits are more interesting than the overall model shots - but overall the effect of the ship is more stunning on the front page ;)

There is a level of paper model building that transcends reality. That is when a paper model is so well designed and so well built that it is indistinguishable from the real thing. Carl, you've been a true inspiration for me since I got back into the hobby and you just keep getting better.
Congratulations on another superlative effort!

Still, it was nice to be reminded of this recent POTW. One of the finest of Carl's superb designs and builds. I'm always ready to see more photos.
