Hello!
I decided to take a short break in the designing of Westland Whirlwind and design Hawker Heron from 1925. More info about this aircraft you find here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Heron).

At the beginning block of fuselage.

Best regards.

Hello!
Gixergs and flying rasta: thank you. :) I like the little-known aircraft from the 20-30 years of last century.

Horizontal and vertical rudders are on they places.

Very interesting the Vildebeest and the Wapiti, with the engines in the front they could be a great subject to model.

Lad-n-Dad offers a Wapiti, very well done if fact. It's for sale at eCardmodels.com. For interwar fans, they also offer a Bristol Bulldog and Fairey Flycatcher.

Sorry, Kryzchu, not trying to hijack your thread. We now return to Kryzchu's Hawker Heron....

Hello!
Gixergs: I think that the time between the wars in aviation was one of the most interesting periods and created a lot of interesting types of aircraft.
flying rasta: it will be. :)
Alcides: maybe in the future. ;)
Wyvern: no problem. I wondered, I saw a model of Wapiti and a few others but I do not remember where. It's good that you write about them because they are very interesting models: here (http://ecardmodels.com/shop/index.php?manufacturers_id=67)

Continuation of project: wings.

Hello!
Thank you Wyvern!

The first few parts are ready. Colors are alleged because I have no drawing showing in what colors can be painted (about color photo, even I do not think). If anyone knows the rules of painting aircraft, the RAF from that time period (the 20th of the last century) or have any materials about Heron from books, albums or plastic models (if they are) please help. I will be very grateful.

Best regards.

This is the only picture (http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/hawker_heron25.php) I could find. This is the prototype J6989 (apparently the only aircraft produced.) I imagine the color would be aluminum doped fabric and bare metal. I am looking foward to this one (and any others of the "Golden Era" 1920-1940.) Note that the rudder stripes should be blue-white-red from fore to aft. The Heron was flown by Hawker until 1928 and the RAF did not reverse the rudder stripe colors to red-white-blue until 1930.

Hello!
Thank you OldTroll! :)
My fault, I forgot about replace of colors of stripes on the rudder and I gave them as they were later in the RAF.

I have already corrected.

Just a quick search. RAF as a demonstrator from June 1925 - displayed at Hendon 27JUN25, No15 Sqd from 17DEC25 to MAY27, 22Sqd from JUN-AUG27. Returned to Hawker repainted and registered as G-EBYC on 21MAY28, prepared for Kings Cup race 20JUL28, but struck car and was written off.

Civil photos here (http://1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions//Shumaker/7748.htm) and here (http://www.nvva.nl/renekrul/catalogs/hawker.heron.g-ebyc.jpg) No evidence on the colour.

I agree with the Troll. If they used any other color on the upper fuselage decking, as was done with the Siskin and Bulldog, it probably would've been PC-12.

be that as it may, the aircraft was a demonstrator, so color as you will! Also, it might be cool to have a couple of schemes as it might've looked had in been bought for service- lift schemes off a Siskin or Gamecock, or any other "Tweener" British fighter.

"K-74", I'd like to request, if I may, that the parts be arranged for ease of 1) printing on 8"x11" paper and (if possible) 2) for slight upscaling to 1:48 scale. This would certainly provide additional 'value added' to the product (in my humble view) as it would eliminate the gyrations needed to get the parts printed to varying desired outputs thereby garnering wider appeal.

I keep wondering if it is possible to create (for example) a PDF where the parts are individual objects so to allow some limited 'shuffling' on the sheets (to accomodate different scales &/or differing size sheets.) All without compromising the 'security' of the product.

If there was ever a case of "lowest common denominator" this is it!

Ah, the joy of designing with others in mind! Regardless, neat bit of scratch - thanks very much for sharing.

Yes, as the Troll spoke! I am eager to get my hands on this one. The shots of the parts sheets indicate that it will be a terrific model.

Although it is a very different-looking airplane, this Heron puts me in mind of the 1930s Fleet Air Arm Firefly II. Has anyone ever offered one of those? If not, perhaps it would be something to keep in mind for the future, K'74.

Wings of Horus used to offer several Flycatchers. I believe the design was by Digital Card Models. It was a fairly simplistic model - think FG with a few frames - but could be a good basis for some scratchbuilding and detailing. Lad-n-Dad may also offer one in 1:48 as part of their British collection.

Sorry for the hijack, K74.

Krzychu74 your work looks wonderful. I don't know why but this one looks "easy" to build, maybe after the ponnier.

Rbeach84 do you have problems to print it? I can print the models from Krzychu74 enlarged to 104% ( from 1:50 to 1:48 ) without trouble in letter size paper. I just lost the little strip from the tittles in the upper and bottom part but because the model parts are far from the size I don't have any issue.

Alcides

Don- The Troll has the right of it- Lad'n'Dad do offer a Fairey Flycatcher in 1:48, with the option to build it with carrier legs or floats (the Flycather was built to be convertible). Chris has it available on eCardmodels. I have it, and it is a very nice kit.

Alcides, from what you say it appears K-74 is already taking into account my "issue" with the minor upscaling to 1:48. It is often the case that the 104% increase only 'loses' some border elements, which is just fine, but occassionally, I have to do two prints with a center shift to get all the parts intact. Just depends on how "tightly" the parts are arranged on the page. And of course, scaling up from 1:72 usually just does not work well at all - results in a lot of wasted paper! Thanks for your comments.
