FGMM 1948-1950 IAF Texan 1/60 scale by Jordan

This will be my six year old's entry. It is my attempt at the IAF Texan with the color scheme used prior to the Suez conflict. The Israeli's simply painted some simple camo colors over the body and wing tops of their yellow Texans. The Radio post was moved from the front of the cockpit to the back. (I see I forgot to add the IAF rondels to the underside of the wings!) Anyhow, Jordan Ertz, six, is doing pretty good ith his small school scissors. I warned him that he was playing with the big boys now!;)
One day I have to get back to mine!:eek:

As a parent, today was a bit...stressful. Jordan wants to do this himself. His last models he cut most of them out but I have always cut the little tabs and other small pieces with the craft knife. Today, Jordan used the knife for the first time. He did a good job, nice and slow, but I stressed out every moment.

Anyhow, no blood, but he did get the body cut out, tabs and all. :D The model goes on!

If you weren't a good Dad, you wouldn't be stressed. But, tell me the stress wasn't worth it...the pride of seeing your son take the next step and be successful at it.

Anyway....This is looking great!!! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Jordan did bleed today...but not from the craft knife. He was playing out side and took a header on the drive. Scraped his elbow a bit, and the spill took the wind out of his sails. So he didn't get much more modeling done today. Maybe tomorrow.

Let me second ... or third ... the words of Wyvern and Paperwarrior. Scrapes and bruises are a normal part of childhood play, and a few nicks and cuts are normal for modeling. You can't prevent all possible injury without stifling Jordan's growth. Your job instead is to make sure that bandages and ointment are reasonably close by. I can't even count the scars from my own youthful modeling. When Jordan begins his own "collection," perhaps he, too, will regard them as badges of honor -- or of membership in the community.

Jordan wants to thank you all for the encouragement. He has all but forgot about his spill yesterday and could hardly wait for his school work to be over. He is off to a good start for the day. He enjoys using dowels to roll parts. With the wings done, he is off to the next part!

I like the idea of using clips to hold them. I use my fingers and lips and I really look goofy. Thank you for the idea. ;-)

Jordan is taking advantage of his brothers being gone to get some work done on his model. With everyone doing models, the work desk has been fought over in recent days! Michael and kenny are over at thier dads for Easter break, so jordan is gong nuts with out his two brothers around to do things with.:)

He wants to make it fly on a tether like the one I made a while back, so we will see how that works out.
