I sat down last night while watching a NASCAR race and started this one and much to my surprise I've gotten to this point in one (fairly long) sitting. The wings and tail are reinforced with cardboard but otherwise it's completly stock. As you can see I've blacked out the wheel wells so I'm commited to building the complex landing gear. I also remembered to open the holes for the rigging.

Looks a lot better than my attempt. All of my wings were canted at different angles. Made for a fun flyer for my sun. I like you build so far. Can't wait to see the LG.

This is easily a record for me-I've never finished a paper model in two evenings. The landing gear proved to be much easier than I thought. The rigging is .015 music wire with wire spreaders carved from toothpicks. I rolled some tubes colored steel for exhaust stacks.

Very nice build. One of my entries in this contest is a Staggerwing in Brazilian Navy Colors, is all in admiral blue, this repaint is very close to finish. Thank' s for build report...

You must have a great collection of Golden Age aircraft, Wayne!

I'm always happy when I see that you have posted another of these beautiful builds.

A great looking model, for sure. Nicely done! Always liked the Staggerwing's looks and this FG kit captures the magic!

I wish some brave soul would do a redraw with faired fixed gear ( which actually retracted some).

Well, talk to Birder. Glen did the original design for FG.

Well done! And quick, too!
Which paper and weight did you use on it? Very glossy.

I'd never heard of this plane 'till FG released it, then shortly after, I noticed it was used in a movie (Bataan or Back to Bataan).

Found a pic of one in O.D. on floats - Does anyone know the Military designation?

I printed this one on 65# cardstock-the gloss must be an illusion from my camera. I've run across the army staggerwing on floats awhile ago but I can't remember where-I'll have to do some research.

I think the army staggerwing was a UC-43. There was also a navy version called a JB-1.
